A new opera to the world from China – ‘KUNQU ‘SABARAGAMUWA’ TRADITIONAL OPERA’

And this is to be created by the magician dancers of our soil ( Mr.Channa Wijayawardena – Mr.Chandana Wickramasinghe) 

 Arts create the world; it brings the world before you.  Traditional forms of arts are not ‘the fashion of the ‘OLD GENERATION’ it is the ‘moving ahead’ ‘strategies’ for the ‘youngsters’ of the today’s generation.

If the ‘young’ does not understand or if they are not interested in learning the ‘traditions’ or the traditional forms of arts ‘what can we do? ‘ Do you think that ‘awareness’ on this particular subject ‘a solution’?

I watched recently on ‘CCTV’ – ‘Culture Express’. ( July 07, 2012)I watched the clips that they have made interviewing the ‘young Chinese’.  I was not surprised to hear some of the answers of the respondents/viewers.

Their views on ‘The Traditional Chinese Opera’ are interesting and specifically their ideas on this particular form of art ‘KUNQU’ OPERA’ lead my thoughts towards a different direction. 

It is the ‘grate Chinese wall’ that we aware of most. And may be the Chinese are aware of our traditional forms of arts thanks to the ‘paramparika (the teachers who still engaged in protecting the traditional forms of our art and crafts over generations and generations) guruwaru ( teachers of different forms of arts of our country)’ ‘ Suramba’ Guranunnanse (teacher = gurunnanse this is a honorary word that we the Sinhalese use to respect the teachers who engaged in protecting and performing the traditional dancing items in the past) is one of them ( gurunnanse is sort of a head master – I hope my teachers would agree to my explanation about ‘gurunnnase’)

And mostly we do not see the ‘paramparika narthana (dancing) guruwaru ( teachers) performing on famous stages of the world ( except few- we have a world full of traditional dancers who are doing their role not on popular screens like television or cinema or on popular open stages etc but they are helping and sharpening the movements of their golayo ( the students)  

Thanks to few modern yet the teachers who love the traditional forms of arts of the soil of our motherland, the creators like ‘ Chandana and channa’  the world understands our true spirit of some of the traditional forms of dancing.

CONGRATULATIONS to you Sir! Channna Wijayawardena for winning a worldly valuable ‘award’ for the performances of your young team from the world of admirers and fans/artists. (Your very recent achievement)

We know China but I know a little about such forms of art like Qunqu opera.

Art and culture is a key and a bridge sometimes to promote or improve the relationships we have between the two countries I thought. art is never a barrier or a wall to promote such things between countries.  this is a popular saying but I like to remind the world that we are very rich in different forms of traditional forms of arts and crafts so come and visit our country at least once. 

And this can be a bridge that link two countries of the world together and also this will prove ‘art is a bridge to wonder of Asia’

 So very few youngsters think that according to CCTV -  China the viewers or the watchers of the traditional forms of arts is mostly done by the old generation 40 -50 if I am not mistaken the figure I saw on the screen is not incorrect.

Yes that can be very true ‘ they ( the older generation) have the responsibility’ to carry forward  these forms of traditional arts and keep them in a safe place for the youngsters to watch later when ever they want to study/refer ‘secondary data’ or ‘literature reviews’ before writing their ‘PhD - dissertation on ‘Traditional forms of arts of the South Asian/ Asian part of the world’. May be Mr. Tissa Nagoda Withana could help the other older generation like us teaching  ‘his method of protecting old Sinhalese films’ and now happy to see Mr. Haren (?) Nagodawithana is involved in the same effort apart from the ‘National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka’. 

I loved ‘David Caradine’ mainly because of his performance in ‘Kung Fu’ tele series. That was a brilliantly done tele - series which was produced based on the knowledge of traditional ‘Kung fu’. If I am correct the actor lived more than 80 years (looked so young in his performances)

 We know Jackie Chang and Jet Lee not because of Traditional Opera or Jackie Chang’s performance with Mallika Sherawat (Indian actress who went to Hollywood and walked along the red carpet) because of their ‘actions/performances in action films’

Lucy Liu, Michelie YEOH I have seen them performing in big Screen. 

Unfortunately we are not aware of the traditional dancers of ‘QUNQU opera’

Samabaragamuwa is a huge heritage of our soil. The people and the performers/dancers of this part our motherland understand the rhythmic patterns of the traditional forms of dancing. ‘Sabaragamuwa’ 

Our cultures can do wonders using the two different forms of arts blending with the knowledge of our dancers/teachers’ using the techniques and rhythms of two beautiful form of art.

What do you Say? Chandana Sir and Channa Sir?

Ni shuo pu tong hua hai shi guang dong hua? (Do you Speak mandarin?)

Yesterday I spent a ‘realistic night ‘with major stars and their assisting stars. I was so confused to know who is the ‘major star’ really? …….. At the very beginning everyone bothered my heart you know not giving the answer at the very beginning. Who was the star that wrote the script for the whole stars? Lovely … and certainly beautiful I thought looking at purple colour lights all over.

Honourable Sir/s do not tell us that you changed your party colour. How can that be happened? NO WAY! That was certainly a ‘super way’ you have organized everything. Everything was so ‘highly’ applicable and enjoyable. After thirty years of wars it is not easy to organize a ‘star wars’ …….. Let me tell you one thing that I noticed ‘you have done awesome and wholesome job’

So on that very same night our ‘always a star’Mr. Jackson Anthony reminded me and to the whole country that ‘July 07’ that is ‘today’ we will be completing the 25 the death anniversary of all time ‘anangaya of our hearts ‘ H.R. Jothipala.

Amazingly wonderful words ‘obata magen mal mitak’ (some flowers for you from me NO! not for Indu ………..) mama ewa ‘samanalayek’ athe ewwa hambaunaada? I sent them with a butterfly didn’t you get them? 

  

Tell me saranga if you did not receive them. The butterfly must be playing with a ‘bee’. (Butterflies and bees belongs to one caste’)

It is 9.08 am now ( July 07, 2012) real bicycle stars who were riding on behalf of their ‘nijabima’( motherland) slowly passed me disturbing my my view for a moment showing their enthusiasm to become a real star waving red+ white flags to sathara disa. ‘Who wants/likes to be the nayaka (leader) of the disawa? And who will be the nayaka of your disawa? (district/area/province)’ the Madugalle’s do not have to answer to this question. May be the ‘Dissanayake’s can answer.

I vote for my country not for other countries. Any doubts?

‘Jayakodi’ (the flags of victory) always know how to show ‘jayakeheliya’ (the happiness of a victory) to the whole world.

I studied ‘music’ for my ordinary level exam do you know what happened at the ‘practical exam?’

I was asked to sing ‘yaman ragaya’ stupid me sang ‘the bhahirawee’ ragaya so the ‘result was ‘I failed the music’ ………. ‘my result sheet indicate the letter ‘F’ before the subject Sangeethaya’(‘MUSIC’)

So I am not a ‘music star’ but I’ ll tell you sir I am a good ‘listen star’

‘My favorite star YASHODHA WIMALADHARMA’ you were so stunning yesterday.

So the whole yesterday night I tried to be a ‘real star’ so unfortunately ‘today’ I failed to be a star. I did not report to my principle that I m not well to report to school thinking that ‘walls of the school always gets the side of the teachers and students not the desks and tables’ assuming that the walls have ‘eyes and ‘ears’.

My dialogue you are half responsible for the situation you should have offer me another loan at least to call my principle forgetting the real star voting you know. Don’ you think so?

Pardon me sir. but honestly sir i tried to phone you yesterday but i was not lucky to convey the message sir.

i thought of summerizing this star letter i wrote using some other words  that i have stolen from a song of a different singer 'star' of yesterday.

Serena Susanthika Venus Williams Jayasinghe ……………….

I have heard of three sisters. They sang beautifully any melodies they touch. Those were the beauties of our yester years.  Today I can see many sisters who can sing, dance and even paint. Some paint on the very same ground they live and assure no need of drawing books.  They use the colours of the nature to paint their lives and lives around them and of the lives who are very close to them.  Some use the earthy colours some use the oceanic colours, some of course blend all the existing colours with the shining colours of the sun, the colours of rainbows and some love to colour their dreams with the colours of rising sun.  The wind brings all colours of all countries together.  Sport is something very colourful, enjoyable and trustable ‘winning reality’only if the players agrees to follow  certain rules and regulations of the ground in ‘Tennis’ or in ‘running’ etc 

These three sisters I have known since long years.  You really do not have to know a person privately or personally. There are ways to learn about people, talk with people, read about them, watch what they do etc. so I managed to use one of those methods to touch their hearts.

My cousin ‘Suranga’ once gave me a book. That is a very serious book about the golden and very tough emperor of tennis world – JOHN McEnroe. I got an opportunity to read his autobiography ‘SERIOUS’ he is certainly a very serious character in sports.

So …… Venus and Serena are you serious like John Mcenroe in life battles ‘singles and doubles’? I know that it is not easy to play Wimbledon and holding the crown for a certain period.  I got an opportunity to read how Mr. McENROE   won some of the games he played and why he lost some of the games in some of the years. Worth sharing the experiences.  

These three black beauties do not belong to one parental family. They belong to two different continents of techniques, spirits, and love, enthusiasm.   But they all belong to one colour called ‘human’.  These beautiful three sisters speak two different native languages but they always get opportunities to embrace the magic of ‘winning’ ‘victory’ and sometimes ‘losing’.

Shall I send you a bridge full of flowers? I do not know how you are going to accept it.

The Williams shines thanks to their father Mr. William. For any daughter ‘father’ is the most trustful and well wishing figure of life. he was there throughout Serena and Venus’s life as a guide, as a coach, giving every single necessary guidelines, advises, watching every step they move, every angle of moving their strong hands and observing every mistake they make and praising when ever necessary. Mr. William you have gifted two immeasurable ‘talent and skills houses’ to this world full of amateurs who are willing to follow their magnificent ‘strategies of   ‘winning’ watching every single event they play, together and alone sometimes’.

But DO you Know Mr. William there is one beautiful heart here in this country she belongs to the same ‘clang’ that your daughters belongs to.  Her Name is ‘SUSANTHIKA JAYASINGHE’. I do not think that I know enough of words to explain this character of sports ‘the true spirit of our country.  Every sweat that she dropped had a meaning.  Every single sweat of her life brought us happiness.  I am sure that she must have learnt something, from other legendary sports hearts around country and around the globe things such as ‘how to rule the ground’ the way you want respecting the rules of sports. And she knows for sure how Mr. D. White ran without shoes and how he cleared the path for her to run freely, magnificently, superbly. 

She ran miles, miles, and miles without even thinking of her ‘meals of the day’.  She is different to your two daughters but equal in talents and skills and enthusiasm in life.  She was new to town but your two beautiful stars understand each and every corner of their town. See the difference sir. Yet sports bring the continents together to a one point.  They all live in two different grounds of sports surrounded by ‘huge voices of supporters’.  The true winning partners, the most trusted sisters know how to defeat (this is a bad word to use), play against the opposition with the help and love of their father, friends and lovers.  

Is that true that sometimes the price money you win not heavier than the bag full of experiences you gather after losing a game?  How do you really apply these two words ‘everything’ and ‘nothing’ in to your victories, winning and losing a game? Will you tell me?

Our girl also had the support of the whole country and apart from that there are others who support ‘Susanthika’ throughout her battle of winning her running games. Her husband, her parents and friends outside her country even in off ground practices.  

‘Winning’ and victory’ is the slogan of their sports life nothing else.  Winning is always possible for them because their way of winning was always a fair way.  But they know and understand the shapes and sizes and colours of losing’ and of ‘failures’ 

These days are Olympic days. I noticed that the dreams of sporting hearts have become so colourful and beautiful. The television channels reminding the number of days remaining for the colourful ‘the Olympics’ few more days (22 days ……. ?) have patience ……. for some for sure their dreams will become a reality.

 All the best to all the sports hearts across the world!  

The new hearts of sports have things to learn from the old starts (they are not aging for sure).  Susanthika Jayasinghe is a huge book of experiences of life. Share if possible with every sporting heart you know.

Dear Susanthika have you ever thought of writing/publishing/sharing your experiences of grounds global and local. The battles of ‘the beginning stage of your life’ (sports and other) are you willing to share those experiences with your fans world wide? 

 ‘The journey that she began in a small hilly village in Kegalle years ago never stopped or ended there. She had an aim in her mind.  Thanks to the instinct of good hearts of sports (I am sorry I really can not remember the name of your very first teacher/coach - Duncan sir? )  We all saw she was shining in the grounds of her motherland.  So Colombo was a good ground for her to gain something fruitful and then she proceeded towards the ground of universe’ and that was an amazing experience to be shared with all around the globe I believe. ……..  I do not think that I m good in thinking of a better title. 

I do not like to say that your two beautiful daughters are manipulating ‘the ground of sports essences’.   

The queens of tennis world and our queen of sports world don’t you think together you all can do wonders to this world, for the benefit of the world.  For the children of Nigeria, don’t you think that you can together help to win the battles of hunger of Somalia.

Do you maintain something like ‘ the Serena and Venus fund against hunger’  ……… can you allocate just 1 dollar of money from each of the battle you win in and off grounds of life.  They need your help dear sisters. Be the real queens of all hearts across all continents.  

We have enough of grains here in our country talk to our president if you want something from him. 

So all these three sisters are so quicker than time.  Very watchful, tactful, (in some sports activities this is necessary I believe),   believing the true inner spirit they have,  

So ……. Their journey has just begun …………….  You have a long way to go both in ground of sports and the ground of life. 

Take care of your sporty hearts!  And let’s take care of this world together with our friends around the globe.

  

Bend like dear D. Beckham but do not forget to act like ‘OUR UANDUWA’ – KUMAR DHARMASENA………….

Sports bring ‘peace and harmony’ in to hearts and minds of different countries……. this note is a result of trying to analyze two masters of two different sub subjects of one major subject called 'Universal sports 'thinking of two sporty hearts of two different countries ( England and Sri Lanka)

Bending is a technique one may say. Bending is an art someone else might add. Bending is ‘humanity’ you might say……. This ‘Bending’ I like to now blend with ‘unanduwa’ (ENTHUSIASM) what do you say? ………

What is the English meaning of the word ‘unanduwa’ enthusiasm (?) is this the correct word how about ‘courage’ that adds a different colour tone and a shape No? Who has the courage to accept that ‘dear D. Beckham bends so courageously than the other ones we know of his team?

Dear David B.  You broke my heart this time not only you but also the whole management of this game ‘football’. I am not pleased with the decision taken by your management to keep you away from the ground of your touch. I understand more than they I am sure the soil of your country (and globe) will miss the value of ‘embracing moments’……… sorry I am a little emotional this time than trying to think of the ‘need’ of the team. They may be right but WHO LIKES TO SEE HIS/HER FAVOURITE PLAYER JUST WATCHING THE GAME sitting on the pavilion WITHOUT ACTIVELY INVOLVING IN THE GAME?

Why ……. ?

Tell me why didn’t you do your home work? Were you away from the ground or you just ‘modeling’ the newest outfits of the world famous ‘designers’ of Italy and England, or Ireland? I though that you already gave up modeling giving your wife the chance? Let me tell you that she is so ‘spicy’ and beautiful. You climbed up to ‘space’ with the woman you love NO? wonderful.

Is she your ‘herawum lakshaya’( do you read?) Oh! I am sorry I m sure that you are not aware of the meaning of those words? That is ‘turning point’ my dear.  The owner of these words (Printable version) ‘herawum lakshaya’ once noted that ‘if you do not know to lose you can not be a winner’ ( this is the rough idea I took after reading few lines of his turning points of life experiences) losing is part of winning’ I am sure you know this theory of life by now. Playing one of the toughest games of this world ‘football’ am I right?

Did I lose anything in life? Let me think a while …….. Do you like to know the answer?

The answer is NO BUT I GAINED A LOT……….

So Dear David B. my friend fortunately ‘you know the art of bending’ but you should learn to keep your enthusiasm throughout your whole ‘life’ like our unanduwa – [this is not a message to you my friend this is a message to my own ‘mind’ who am I to advise you when I think of your life achievements. life is a game – once I thought ……]

Have you met him before our hero ‘KUMAR DHARMASENA’?
Come and meet him here in this country? Check with him before you plan to come I don’t know whether he is in SA - South Africa or northern part of India these days raising his finger pointing upwards and waving and swinging his right hand like a beautiful ‘swing’. Just tell me before I ask you any further question how far do you know this our country man? What do you know about him? DO YOU WATCH CRICKET? Or is it only foot ball you play. Watch better cricket to play good football. This is just a suggestion from a fan ok.  

Gurinder Chandha asked us to ‘bend it like Beckham’ but you know Mr. Gurinder shall I suggest a title for your next art of cinema ‘move, bend, run, jump, watch, aim, and target like unanduwa’ for a better target of audience ……. Is this too long, the title i suggested? Then ……….

Short it like the way you sort out some of the cinematographic issues alright. 

‘Three in one’, Man with three important qualities of cricket- Kumar Dharmasena ……… the Master of Arts in fielding, diploma in decent catching, art of universal batting. I am just trying to explain his methods of accurate playing the way I can to tell you honestly ‘my way’ is the right word. What is your way is that possible to know? Is it a ‘highway’ that leads and connects our hearts from south to west etc ………. 

Of course he is not the only player we have that has such qualities.   Little clue for you we have ‘DILSANG’ also in our team ……….. This name has the art of any captaincy and team work. (Sorry can’t tell you more than this) do not tell me that you have not heard about this name before?

So ……. dear David B. I don’t like your new hairstyle you know. Which hairstylist you go to? Come to Rumsy Rahman he is one of the best we have. Go to Borella (Colombo 8) you can meet him after Senanayake Junction but before the Y.M.B.A. building. Alright, contact the ministry of tourism for more details.

Notices of death …………………..

( it took me about four decades to walk and complete just 42 yards of this footpath. i am still at the beginning of the cleansing process. i noticed few notices of death while trying to cleanse at least a few more yards/feet of this path. i thought to keep them without cleansing them/erasing them - i wrote this note few months back and this is not a edited version, you may find confusing ideas, sentences , etc i decided to post this as it it is just to remind you something about life and death is something that you find unedited and unpredictable, confusing ( not always) version of a printable document.)

What do you do when you notice a notice of a death somewhere along the path you walk everyday or every other days or so? Do you generally stop at such places for a moment or you just proceed without even bothering to read or turn your head towards the death notice?

We live in an unhealthy world. It is alright even if you disagreed to this idea. It is so brilliant if every one of us can think of our own health conditions than anything else in our life? But the truth is that the person who writes all these and keeps them before you is too careless of her personal health care. This is not news but an idea for you the importance of killing the tyrant called ‘carelessness’.

That is the truth I believe. What do we really lack in our lives have you ever thought of that? is it the money, friends, someone to share your true thoughts of life, to share a teasing moments with dear and near ones? I think it is good if I try and refresh my own mind and direct it towards such a way of life.

‘Time’ comes on top of our lists of ‘wanted’. Am I right? Do you get some time free to talk to your old friends, your childhood friends, your friends that you never planning to meet, you may have met them long years back for the last time. True that you should have a priority list of work, life dealings and surely of friends etc. meeting the best and useful first and then if get time the meeting the rest if think useful at all. This is applicable only to the category of friends not for the category of people that come under ‘you use me I use you’ type I hate and hate such ideas.

They may have helped you in a very critical situation/s of your life before you come to a certain standard of your life back then. NO! It is not money all the time that what is worth in ones life. Just a word may be. A word that your friends may have shared with you sometimes back that lead your life towards the wonders of life and one should not forget that the people that come under this category are not using your name or the popularity to any extend.

Time has wings true and money has more wings. They have no ability of sustaining or staying at one place. They like moving here and there from time to time. Yes it is so intelligent if you save money than trying to save ‘thoughts and memories’ if one really wants to proceed further in achieving comfortable life. These things sometimes show the differences of people, the differences of different thinking the things some people value etc.

Those are the wonders of ‘time’. The time can do miracles for most of us. The time teacher teaches you these things. We all have to watch these things true with an open eye may be with closed mind. It is truly a great idea to open your eyes and shut your mind windows forever.

‘Time’ depart people, friends, and it is the ‘opposite’ sometimes. the very same time brings friends close to your window sill or to your door step.

Just forget the incidents of life for a moment……………….

Stop a while when ever you see a notice of death of somebody.

Why?

Is that really necessary?

May be ……….. Who knows? What if you suddenly see a photograph of mine on a notice? That is the nature of life my friends this is the truth that we are unable to understand or accept. I too do not want to die this soon….. how much of life and aliveness of life that I have not even really gained yet ? Thinking of those excitements of life paths I feel like living even a moment or so than I expect earlier or as written on the life pages of this sansaara.

Life is unpredictable right?

Have a close a look at those notices. May be the particular photograph of the person that appears on the notice of the death can be a person you may know.

In life, sometimes we get unlimited chances and sometimes you never know the chances of life that one gets, or the chances are unlimited. Or people may never get any chances to share their views of each other and of their friendships.

Death certificates no use that is what I believe.

Some actually never think of the value of a person when they are ALIVE and what is the point of having ‘death certificates saved somewhere that you generally keeps your valuable things. To claim the ownership of property, etc right.

Some collects certificates of death and the notices of death as collection of memories.

Some are so eagerly looking go search of ‘death notices’ just for the sake of their comfortable living.

What will happen to their certificates and notices of death I like to think?

These things may not relevant or unimportant you might think that ‘enjoying life’ is the most important thing in ones life.

True one should not suffer but should enjoy of one can really face and avoid the inevitable life circumstances.

I remember having a discussion with a few personals I knew few months back on the importance of ones ‘life’ and the notices of death.

That was solely based on selfishness and personal gaining’s. Planning to earn money out of ones death isn’t that remarkable what an easy way to earn money. What a ‘smile’ that a notice of death sometimes brings to some people’s faces unimaginable. Those are the unimaginable things my friend. Not the things that you sometimes see or hear when you walk from community to community.

In that sense even the death help us earn a living is that what some people believe.

One day you may notice a death of a young. Today I notice a death notice of a young boy born on 1992. Few days back I noticed few older people those things are not new you can notice one or two at least per week.

Don’t just ignore these things and walk stop a little and think a little ‘the importance of ones life when they are alive’

Try to analyze the pictures of the death people if possible. The living may have used the best picture that they had. You can say nothing of ‘the nature of death’ just looking at a picture unless you go and meet the family members of the death.

If you think of the reasons you may encounter various ways of death experiences, murder, sickness, accident, natural death, heart attacks …….

Life is short you are right I think it is too short. If we just die without doing or contributing something good for the society we live.  Our life will be short not in the years or the days we lived so far.

Death is not something very easy to write or discuss that generally bring some uneasy feelings to my mind.

What I tried to say here is the importance of ones life, the value of human lives; non can pre planned their death. But there is something that you can pre planed that is ‘ones life’ …………..

I believe no use ‘buying’ the world best ‘coffin’ killing a millions and trillions worth ‘tree’ ( timber) I  have not heard of any steel coffins so far. Are there any such things in this world? 

Peduru kella (a piece of mat) gives no hazards to this earth than killing (this is the right word) a tree to make a coffin. 

Respect the lives when they are ALIVE no need to send baskets of flowers, or ‘malwadam’ paying thousands of money, no use when they are no more to see the beauty of flowers or the quality of the coffin.

Protect every tree of this earth.

i thought it is good to cleanse my inner mind taking a little break.

After cleansing and searching results of the FOOTPATH so far IS ...........

found few to be guilty for trying to harm the smart and steady minds ( brains including) of our people and later arrested them thanks to the department of police of this country. ' any one who tries or responsible for such crimes in harming this country will be punished and offer no ' excuses' ...........

shall i specifically thank the 'crime branch' or i must thank the group of the fourth floor?

i guess i do not have to explain this to you almost all of you have experienced the heavenly scent or let me use another word fragrance of my words sorry! NO! not the words but the body order ....... so let me take a little break for that particular purpose >>>>>

and friends before i windup this little note shall i ask you a little question ........

which is worst ' one's body order ( is this the correct way to spell the word let me know if you have any other ideas)? or is it just one's 'filthy mind' that smells?

i have learned that generally some people smells within due to various reasons , and kindly tell me which is the BEST cleansing TREATMENT/MEDICATION that such people should use for such an issue if the doctors says that they are suffering from such ailment than any other illnesses? 

and what do you suggest for me for my issue?

( just assume that my doctor will not prescribe any medicine thinking that i have no major health hazards and if he also says that it is nothing to do with my HYGIENE ' or primary or fundamental(?) cleanliness
