life of dew drops .............

My friend Gayathri Jayasinghe sent me a forwarded message yesterday. That was about the Venezuela’s crowned Miss Universe in year 2000 and her tragic death.  That was an Old Story and I guess the whole world knows it.  That is not really the ‘news’ here. The way they have structured the message was unbelievably thoughtful.

I did not know that she was a Buddhist. That was an example I thought to reverse my mind back to the same direction that I tried to touch few days earlier ‘Rupan jeerathi Majjana naama gottan najeerathi’ I guess she and her family very well understood that ‘reality’ and she taught the world  another excellent ‘lesson’ on the ‘truth of life’.

So the message was ended giving us another unchangeable truth about life of a drop.
I had some collection of photographs of dew drops that I was taken few weeks back and all those were around our little home garden, some were smiling on leaves, flowers, roses etc. I don’ t  think that I can never see the same again  even when I visit my home next time. I may see some other fresh drops designed or shaped differently on some other surface of something. The world is changing we can not change the truth. What ever happens in this world or in this earth ‘that truth will not change’ the world is changing. The dew drops die and some other may blossom. Who can say ‘NO’? But there are things that change very slowly but for sure for a better.

She died yes we learnt lessons.Who changed his/her/their/ lives accordingly? You, me others? NO world moved on and it will move on. Do you think that they, these people, the world is unaware of this truth ? They know but have they stopped organizing ‘Miss Universe pageant there after. No

I learnt a different lesson this time reading the e – mail message that my friend sent me even if I have read the very same, old story of the Venezuela beautiful many times over.

these pictures might add unclear thoughts in to your minds from the very first site please remember that i am not a professional photographer.

this was in a morning after rainy night i do not know the name of this little plant ' 'kroten' i am not sure whether i spelled the name of the plant accurately?

My father died of a Cancer the world did not stop there, the world moved on though I had to stop there for sometime.

this photograph was taken a long time ago in Oman ( in front of the Royal Air Force of Oman he worked there in Sultanate of Oman for more than 10 years after leaving the 'Sri Lanka Army in 1983 or 1984- he was a civil cook there - not a chef )

He died in  01 February and left our home on 04 February 1998.

not only our parents the friends teach us things about life and about many things. the difference here is that you find some difference in the weight of the lessons.  the topics of the lessons. attachments or the attractions of the lessons are different still all these are lessons.

I guess one of our ladies recently won the ‘Mrs. world title but that is after a very long time our beautiful and talented Rosy Senanayake ( Eliya for sure) won the first ever Mrs. world title?

Have a look at these unedited, not clear photographs I am sure that you have something to feel.

The rain will not stop his duty not only in Maha season but also in Yala. The’ kala weva’ one of the greatest reserviros we have built by king ‘Dathusena’ father of the creator of the Sigiriya’ the king Kashyapa. Letus not forget the brother of king Kashyapa, the king Mugalan here.

The kala weva will be full of water that will enrich our heartiest paddy fields in all seasons. Sun will rise in the eastern part of the sky hinting and indicating fresh ‘start of a day’ and that will shine for sure. Can we really stop the nature and go against the reality? The beautiful sea will bring us fortune and for sure will bridge the other continents with our lovely country. Who wants to stop that? The flowers will blossom in all parts of the world and the gardens will cherish the hearts when ever the lovers and children touch the soil and routs of little plants.

The truth is we all know the truth and understand it to a certain extent. Why can not we just stop this going behind or chasing behind some things endlessly?

Can’t we really ‘ALLOCATE ‘THAT TIME FOR SOMETHING USEFUL. What did you do to ‘prosper the life of your friend or your neighbor so far?

Have you ever thought of taking your child to the old kingdom of Polonnaruwa, or to Anuradhapura? I guess ‘we have no time’ am I right? If you do not respect the paddy fields of this country no point just showing them to your kids. Those are not just things that bring our children ‘pleasure’ ‘paddy fields are not just ‘essay topics’ for our kids don’t you agree with me?

this is not paddy but 'tea' come for a cup of tea one day with the kids will you?

Let me take this opportunity to thank my friend Gayathri for all the help she offer and to tell you frankly she has once paid my ‘rent of the house’ and she was one of the good hearts who helped me during my fathers ‘illness’ in many ways.  I remember what I gave her just to mark the gratitude’ of my heart for all her help she offer and that was for the very first ‘ a little parcel of ‘Vendol Venivel soap’ I hope you will remember my friend. (Between year 1997 – 1998) she loved it.

There are few other friends amongst them “Ruwanthi Wijesinghe’ was the one who took me to even to the doctors when ever I was ill and she is the first person to ‘gift me a copy of HOLY BIBLE’. I still have it. And when ever I see it ‘I remember you’ I remember you taking me to the church close to ‘vijitha yapa book shop’ ( near the BO tree of Nugegoda) I remember you taught me the first lesson from the bible ‘I tried to repeat everything that rev. father said during the prayers. That was not the way we should do it I learnt from her.

What happen to your ‘crossings’ are you still running it? The lovely little magazine you edited?

The lessons that sometimes our friends teach from time to time will stay in our minds for ever. Those things add some shine to our lives. Those are immeasurable. That is the way this life teaches and let meet different friends from different times.

Who really wants to stop the happenings across the globe? How can you go against the nature?

I was little happy to read one of the articles written on ‘mobile camera photographs’ on last week’s Sunday Observer Magazine and I felt happy that I took all these from a mobile camera. I was always a little upset because of the bad quality of my photographs but then I thought that ‘it is the way that amateurs take photographs’. - “explore the world through a lens’ by Ganga Rathnayake’( July 15, 2012)

I replied to my friend also I like to thank her in public for refreshing, re directing my mind towards touching some other sides of my mind that I never thought of touching before.

Sindagee mera gaana – life is my song Dear Mekala Wasundara ........

I felt little boring to walk along the ‘footpath’ this morning so I took another path to go and talk a little with few of my ‘haven’t met friends’. This is not a strange path for me I have wandered enough of miles on this path to understand ‘something’ about ‘some things’  ‘nothing’ about many things. So young Yuwani gave the directions and showed me few huge unforgettable ‘landmarks’ of this path that has very close relationship to another huge path. Music and cinema goes together. You hear no music sometimes but ‘musical’ tones within the ‘whole creation’ of something

‘Sathsara Paara’ is a lovely path to walk a little in  early mornings and I am sure such ‘walks’ adds some ‘musical rhythm to your life. Silva’s and Mendis’s are not unfamiliar characters to us and ‘Subasinghe’ is a ‘suba sihinayak’( I do not know how to translate this ‘he will definitely be a dream that will come true if anyone of you are ‘dreaming’ of touching and embracing ‘ new and innovative ‘Musical paths’ of this world)  to this country for sure.  I am sure that he has started his musical carrier at a ‘suba’ mohothaka’ (an auspicious moment) Let us know when you meet your friend and then we can wish you ‘congratulations!’ from the bottom of our heart. And let us know ‘her name’?

So ‘Wasundara’ what is the situation in ‘Jothimath paara’ these days? There is no ‘aliveness’ in lives if you hear ‘no music’. Music is a better partner that anyone can have in one’s ‘life time’ this person never leaves you it is just a ‘DVD’ a way, FM Channel  a way, just a phone call away

Oba dannawaada danne neha (don’t know whether you know this)
Sindagee mera gaana – life is my song

Raathriya wee nihadawa nisalawa innam
I ll be the night
And will stay
Calm and quite
(if you are willing to play a lovely ‘jothimath’ song for me )

 Heen sare oba aawa
Quietly and slowly you came

So I thought of asking you

Konda kirilliye ( a bird – local?)kawda umbe premawanthaya (Who is your lover?)

Now just imagine
ek larkhi chotisee pargal –
one girl
slightly mad like you ( NO Wasundara this is not you) don’t say that you agree
don’t you know na

I am ( NOT ) a disco dancer
Sindagee mera gaana( life is my song)
Mei kiseeka deewaana (wrong)
(I am someone’s madness)
Hello! Beautiful what’s your name?
Nahee malum – will not tell

(But I can tell)

Mekala Wasundara  that’s her name ………………………

Obath mamath  hindina me lowa thula kandula susuma motado? ………
What is the use of sighs and tears when you are I are here in this world ?
Obath mamath dedeneku nowa ekeku lesin sithamu
Lets not think that you and I are ‘two’ but as ‘one’

Suno na suno na sunona ………..
Listen , listen , listen will you ?

Give yourself  prudence
And love your friends
Subway kid, rejoice your truth
I know I know for sure
Life is beautiful around the world

How about meeting at’ the dedunu paalama’ (the bridge of rainbow) in one of the evening’s you prefer Wasundara.

'Topic of the 'Day' .....................

'firewood' to 'high priced 'gas' is a quite bit of a tiring journey i believe most of us had to engage in different battles of mind' from time to time. so these prices of gas some times direct the thoughts of our ladies from kitchen area to living room and i guess sometimes that ends in bed room the results generally 'unpredictable' i guess :). Before her thoughts reach from kitchen department to ' sharing every thing with love area' ( dining department) she sometimes phone her neighbors, parents( generally relates to may things 'the monthly salary of her husband' 'the qualities of husband' etc :), that is not the end point of discussion 'our friends' so with them we have some better or worst conversations. then arise the praiseworthy and the blamable 'the members of parliament' in to the conversations of all minds.

The busy cartoonists get their most valuable and gifted pen or drawing pencil and they draw their inner mind on a piece of paper. then some say 'aney hebatama meyalata owne nethi ekak nehane' ( there is nothing that they 'don't want' - to address,)health to education, bus to ships, harbors to airports, fruit to nut, chemistry to biology, poverty to entities, weather to feather, cement to clement, archeology to criminology, holande to Poland,  Norway to this way, Hollywood to Bollywood and to firewood, ministers to Westminster, Ants to elephants sometimes to fish, eggs to frogs, Prabha to pabawathi, Karan Johar to Hariharan,   Araliyata to Kekuliya, Sumathipala to Jothipala ....... my goodness i can write a whole book of the things that they like 'addressing'. I read every thing at 'mulpituwa' with Bandula sir ( Sorry this is Bandula Padmakumara) Sir is Araliya your 'loku duwa'('the eldest daughter') ?

You all went to 'araliya gaha mandiraya' leaving here at 'araliya mal aaramaya' that is alright we heard of good news. we are 'Happy' :)

Some busy house wives had to stop using 'firewood' for certain, certain reasons  and when 'gas' came as a friend of ladies all felt happy. environmentalists ( specifically) could breath freely and happily because people stopped cutting down trees for 'dara' firewood. ( Rubber dara and kela dara)  so this gas kept us away from most of the 'podi podi karadara' (hazards- minor).
so 'gas' slowly and  slowly became became one of the 'dominater'/s of the kitchen department and that became one of the major 'taking point' of parliaments, schools, game kopi kade, lindalanga sangamaya ( this is known as one of the village level meetings places of women, men( rarely) and other at the common well) and all other sangamaya ( societies, organizations)  at shopping malls and rice mills. Every where', 'all where' 'here and there' this becomes the 'topic of the day'. news channels have things to share, tele -katha ( talks) love to talk about gas katha forgetting all other katha. stages of 'politics' have very interesting stories, comments to share and speak. All katha (all talks) will be boring without gas katha for sure. when the prices of gas 'decrease' those katha stops for a while and goes to some other katha of something important. that is the nature of katha ( stories/ discussions/ popular talks)

we have to talk depending on the 'the world talks'. the prices can talk better than minds. when our minds start talking all sort of things the lists of requests the ministers get from the departments of kitchens 'are huge and long' then they had to prepare their talks and minds accordingly. what a 'changer' of a society.

let me think of 'bio gas' ( i guess that this is the correct word) for a moment. 'cow dung'   can be used for loads of things not only for better 'agriculture' but also for many other purposes, to produce 'bio gas' and that is a money saver. Desheeya kiripiti samagam' the local milk powder manufacturing companies what are they doing with such useful things if they maintain their own 'cattle farms' for kiri ( Milk)

depending on the space that are available in the home gardens they can engage in these activities and this can be a leeeetle bit of a solution for a big problem i believe. the cattle farmers can try this and i know at least few of them are currently practicing this in some of the areas.

'electricity' for 'cooking' is not a very good alternative thinking of many sides. "kelawara pitiya' is a 'hope' and a good 'alternative' of 'power' generation and that is a sort of a solution for today,  'electricity' is must save thing'

any other alternatives i am not aware of may be it is good to encourage people for such things that i previously discussed 'bio gas' to get a least relief for such 'price increasing' situations of many things. we generally don't look for 'vikalpa' - alternatives if we start thinking of the available resources of the country that can be used locally for better purpose for sure we will come up with many profitable and fruitful ideas'.  What do you say? Those things are environmental friendly i believe. Happy to see government's involvement on certain things for example to promote 'elakiri' ( cows milk) that is a good thing in various ways, to promote or uplift the situations of local cattle farmers etc and for 'healthy life for all'

Thank you dear minister/s for all the current price changes and we expect more actions from your departments and ministries.

For ( strictly) Public Heroes, the In-Credible ....................

'Sabbe Pruthagjana Unmaththaka'

This is the truth that we know and have learnt from the 'philosophy of life', THE BUDDHISM'. Samma Sambududurajanan wahanse, the best physician ever, the best psychologist, psycho therapist ever, the 'revolutionist', 'environmentalist, social - analysts, already foretold predicted such 'situations' of a world where 'only the 'pruthagjana' live. mama harida ape hamuduruwane?

Sabbe ( 'all/ every' creature who have born in to this world, human and other, who can breath, feels things, who has the 'panchendriyan'( the five organs- ears, eyes, nose, tongue) to see, hear, feel the world are belong to this category   Pruthagjana (  those who have not attained or achieved 'Nibbana', 'Nirwana, the eternity, enlightenment, wisdom are called 'pruthagjana') we see things but we sometimes pretend we don't ( we go passing the pots, and 'youghut cups full of 'dengue breathing places thinking it is not our duty.
the things that i try to discuss below are not applicable to everything to everyone. but i am sure at least one of the things are applicable to our own lives and we are engage or support one of the things 'knowingly' or 'unknowingly'.

ears, we hear many things' gossips' we stop for a moment and want to listen on the other hand we hear' good conversations' we pretend that we don't hear anything. ' we feel' things if we don't suffer from any ailments like ' laduru' ( i can not remember the English word for this illness'- in the past people were so afraid of this illness before the world innovate a better 'treatment' for that. we pruthagjana are like that' we love our own lives' lives of the dear and near one than the lives of the others, our own people. so we do not try to feel the ' sufferings' of others, or the 'dengue patients unless we experience the same.

we have luckily gifted the 'nose' to feel the other things, fragrances, smells but we only attracted the 'fragrances' we avoid looking at or thinking of the 'badly smelly' things ( forget the 'human for a moment- if you think that there is such category) 'asking our selves' why and where'? 'THE DRAINAGE SYSTEM OF YOUR OWN HOUSE YOU LIVE
but only think of the 'kunu kaanuwa of the other house. i do not think that this is enough for us to understand most of the things

so i believe we all belong to this category 'sabbe pruthagjana'

so lets think of the complete saying ' Sabbe Pruthagjana Unmaththaka'

unmaththaka - the mad ( of this crazy world ( comparatively)- full of both good and bad things, people) - ( good and bad, praiseworthy and the blamable all these things are comparative)

so we all belong to this category 'one way or the other'

why? ' Sabbe Pruthagjana Unmaththaka' ( all beings are mad) this is the answer i am not a good translator but i am sure you will understand what i am trying to explain here in a better way than i do.

so the person who took away the life of your friend is one of the 'unmaththakas ( according to what i hear and read - the news etc) and he is in 'the worst category compared to most of us.

WE ARE all MAD' because'

- we do not think of cleaning the premises we live

- we only think of the 'kunu goda' (the loads of garbage) of the other person's entity or the premises, land than not trying to think of the kunu godawal of our 'houses'

- we do not think of the 'importance or the value' of a drop of water until when we experience the 'tragedy of ' drought'.

- we don't think of the value of the 'resources ' we own in our own villages, communities- the people, the CBO's etc and do not think of getting the maximum use of the people, their abilities.

- we are mad because sometimes we do not think of working as a 'team' and devalue sometimes the spirit of 'unity' and try support something else.

- we do not think of the 'power of our word power' that can be used for the sake of the 'people' for 'GOOD' but we try to use our words to harm someones' dignity, or to show the weaknesses of a person, group to the other world or to people outside to us. ( i am sure we can think of many examples recently experienced)

- we don't always think of the value of  'the services of others'

- not only the words' the technical knowledge' or the 'knowledge or the expertise knowledge on certain subjects we are good at ( including ones creativity- art and other) we don't think of using it for a better purpose, needs sometimes of our country.

so we belong to this category' sabbe pruthagjana unmaththaka'

further let me think of some other examples

 we are mad because

- we have the abilities to laugh at people and their weaknesses

- we sometimes thinking of ' getting the relevant bacteria from another country but we forget the 'viruses or the bacteria we have our own WITHIN. ( these viruses are different to the bacteria we expect from where sir ? CUBA?)

- we are also mad because we only stick to our good words and do not do anything 'PRACTICALLY'

- WE are MAD  because we 'do not understand' the value of the children of this world' ( here i am specifically focusing the 'CHILD rapist' )

- we are mad because we enjoy cutting down trees, harming our forests, the heritages we own.

- we mad because we think of 'building a house for 'elders' ( wedihiti niwaasa) why do we need to do so?

- WE ARE MAD BECAUSE WE ONLY THINK OUR 'RIGHTS' FORGETTING THE 'RESPONSIBILITIES'

so dear friends,
this is the never changing truth of life. whether we belong to 'private' or 'public' categories we are same and belong to this 'sabbe satta unmaththaka' category don't you think so?

so ........
do you think that we can forgive that particular person and and continue our work getting the maximum support from all the individuals, groups.

SO I LIKE TO BEG YOUR PARDON ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF THIS LAND, OUR COUNTRY, SRI LANKA AND I LIKE TO ASK YOU TO 'FORGIVE HIM' IF POSSIBLE AND LETS TRY TO FIND SOME 'LONG LASTING SOLUTION' FOR THE ISSUE, 'TOGETHER' ( WE CAN HAVE A BETTER DISCUSSION THAN POINTING OUR FINGER ONLY TOWARDS THE 'WEAKNESSES' OR THE UNMET, INCOMPLETE DUTIES OF OTHERS)

AND AS A CITIZEN OF THIS NATION I LIKE TO THANK ' ALL THE PRIVATE PARTIES ( APOLITICAL MAINLY)  - THE TELEVISION CHANNELS, THE MEDIA, ORGANIZATIONS ( GO AND OTHER), CBO'S - COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS ETC)  THERE IS SOME 'WEIGHT' IN YOUR CONTRIBUTION. and thank you for understanding that this is not only a 'responsibility of a GOVERNMENT' IT IS A RESPONSIBILITY OF ALL CITIZENS.

THANK YOU for reading.

The truth behind THE FRUITS …………

‘ Rupan jeerathi majjanan nama gottan najeerathi’

Following is a conversation took place between a guy and a girl I do not know where and when and I have never met this couple before. I am sure that you are very familiar with this dialogue, or you may have heard this before in different explanations on different things academic and non academic explanations of life.

Makkei nangi dodan neththe?  -Why are you not talking to me sister? That is the rough translation of the Sinhala dialogue and apparently that is what the guy meant.

But he received completely different answer from the girl.
Me dodan awarene aiye –Because ……. this is not the season brother.
These two individuals are from two different areas of our country. The dialogue gives us few hints for us to have such an assumption or come to such a conclusion.

The ways of speaking, ‘tone’ of the language, ways of expressions (? rarely), accents, nature of words that one is using, say hundreds of things about ‘a person’ sometimes ‘the levels of education – this not particularly about the ‘academic qualifications’ that one is holding, the language that some people use is also gives us some information on ‘status of mind’ of a person. I do not know whether ‘the educated use ‘kunuharapa’in a different way. (These words exist in a society generally, but this is known as ‘unaccepted words’ (horrid words) of a society)

The lesson that this conversation teach us is that ‘the Language has/shows area differences’ ( spoken)

Shall we turn towards a fruit forgetting the conversation? What is your favorite fruit?

Lets take ‘annasi for instance to explore our thinking towards a different direction. Shall we go to ‘Nawala’?

‘ Nawala annasi ( the pineapple which grows especially in Nawala area, I do not have to tell you that Nawala is not the only place that you can grow ‘Pineapple’) is a special variety and may be it tastes differently, lets say ‘the flavor is little different’ from the annasi ( pineapple ) that grows close to ‘Gampaha’ distirct. Have you heard about ‘the murusi annasi’ what is this variety? I have a little knowledge on this but I can say that it is little sour than the other varieties and this particular variety that I have tasted before is ‘sweeter’ compared to the other qualities that grow in other parts of our country. That is about annasi.

I do not know whether ‘kotte’ dodan ( kotte was one of the Kingdoms of our country ‘athulu kotte and pita kotte these two were the gates which could let people to enter in to the kingdom and exist from the kingdom) Am I right ‘Professor Keerawella sir (head of the department of History, University of Peradeniya)

Do you cultivate orange in Kotte? ( I have never seen any cultivation here in Kotte) I am not aware of the area specialties of different fruits of different varieties.

Ah! I am sure that ‘rambutan’ (what is the English word for this) grows in Biyagama area, you can buy good quality varieties from this area. I think that is a good source of income. If I m correct you can earn nearly 100,000 – 150, 000 rupees from each tree if you take care of the fruits from the naughty ‘parrots’ and from their pariwaara yaaluwo ( accompanied friends) ‘ battichchan, maliththan’

‘ I do not think that they are afraid of the ‘takaya’ any more’ ( takaya is something made of steal kind of thing which produces a heavy sound and in the ancient times our people used this technique to scare away the birds not because they hate the birds ‘JUST TO PROTECT THE HARVEST’ FROM THIS LITTLE NAUGHTY ONES’ that is all) because now they all live in noisy town thanks to the ‘idiots’ who burn the trees, forests, little bushy area, ( can we bring them to Galle face and hang them till they die- I really mean this they are equal to the child rapists) and forest is not the hiding place for you and smoke a cigarettes and throw the remaining part (kotaya) in to the forestry areas you ‘criminals’

The outer shape of a fruit, and the colours of it, the look of it changes during the period of ‘maturity’. Just think a while don’t you feel that it teach us something or tell all of us ‘the similarities’ that the human body and the fruits holds.

Think of a baby fruit, the young life of a fruit (the life time of a fruit is not equal to the life time of human beings that is true still ……) and the ripe ones.

If you notice all these stages of a fruit how do you feel? The taste or the flavor of a fruit is different during different phases am I right? And I think that same theory can be applied to the ‘look’ of a fruit. The look of a fruit may change gradually. Flowery age of a fruit tells us a different story of the age of a fruit. take mangos for instance ‘think of the colour difference of the skin from time to time.

‘ rupan jeerathi majjanan nama gottan najeerathi’ - ( sorry is this the right pali gathawa, please pardon me if I have written it incorrect way) so these fruits teach us that lesson practically in a brilliant way I personally believe.

(This is the rough meaning of the ‘gathawa’to my knowledge- ‘the physical appearances changes over years and after ‘death’ you will not find the same ‘figure or the appearances, shape’ of a breathing body. There is no truth other than the following.

“The born the becoming, the produced.
The made, the compounded, the unstable
Subject to decay and death, ……….. ( Iti vuttaka 43)

But if you live a good life (not materially rich life) doing good deeds to the society you live (there are many ways you can contribute your knowledge and your good thoughts of your heart to the society you live) the people will remember you forever. Not only among your own generation but also your name will be written on the pages of good papers (the hearts of people) and that can not be erased or deleted for any reasons. So finally it is the name that will last in the minds of your people not the body that you take care of thinking of the ‘beauty products world wide’ that will not last ‘forever’ your body my friend. There will come the time that we all have to leave this place without informing or you informing you. (happy to hear that all the beauty products that have produced testing on animals is banned – (tested on animals if you see this label of the beauty product you buy avoid buying it that is not good for your skin) and they say that it is available in the current market the year of expiry of most of those products is the year ‘1213’ better be careful.  This is not applicable I guess those who produce things ‘nature’s way using the leaves, fruits komarika, kaha margosa etc.

What will last ‘forever’ is your good name nothing else. So lead your thoughts for a good deed. Those other things will bring more money in to your ‘accounts’ but if you do so you will not lose money but other immeasurable as a result of sing your good thoughts for a different purpose.

‘The fruits taught me these lessons’

And the fruit juices (I love to have) bring the daily requirements of VITAMIN ‘C’ and they, the fruits are enrich in ‘vitamin c’. Hey buddies don’t use spoiled fruits ‘to make fruit juices’.

Ha ……. I love the way that ‘Juicees’ make their juices. (I have once or twice visited one of your outlet close to ‘Dambulla(?) and I had a ‘a huge glass full of mango juice just for 100 rupees but that was little time back.   What is the ‘now’ price?

Let me come back to the first and foremost explanation of this note …………… (The conversation)

If you don’t understand the language that the people of your neighboring village speak that will give you some trouble, can you think of why? And I believe that it generally distract people from one and another to a certain extent. For a better understanding one needs to understand the style of language that other use both in written and spoken languages. I believe.

Let’s turn back to dodan

For most of us ‘dodan’ is orange but for some ‘dodanawa is speaking/talking. Dodan is the shortened form of dodanawa in Sinhala in the dialogue above. ‘Dodanduwa’ is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from dodanawa/deduwa( past tense of the word dodanawa). ‘duwa’ is a dupatha ( am I right) and Island. Is our country is the only place which grow different qualities and varieties of oranges? From where do you import the ‘orange colour variety?’ That is not a locally grown variety. And that ‘dodanduwa’ is famous for fisheries I believe. (This is one of the areas of Galle- was (Gaalu thotin)the district that ‘Lorenzo De Almaida stepped in to this country and it seemed that it was not a well planned visit/tour to this country but that was an accident. (can you remember how the ‘Portuguese went around ‘kotte’? at that time? (Parangiya kotte giya heti) all these happened after his visit no?

Again sorry L. De Almeida distracted my thoughts for a moment…….

So the girl thought that he was asking something about ‘orange’ from her and gave him a different answer. For her dodan is orange. ( even I think the same ‘dodan is orange’ – green outside and orange colour inside.  peni dodan’ is the most famous locally grown variety I do not like ‘ ambul dodan which is so good and most commonly used for medicinal purposes for ‘cough’ etc with adding some ‘thal sukiri’( sorry I do not know the English word for this but this is an ayurvedic medicinal thing that the ayurvedic doctors use for many ailments of human body – non alcoholic, and no harm using this but you need to know the relevant ‘maathrawa’ ( the dose – 100 mg, 500 mg etc but friends in ayurvedha you need to weigh the medicinal herbs or other things to know the maarthrawa I beleive( using a little very cute scale especially manufactured for this purpose to weigh the medicinal herbs) Aha! And finally it is so good if you can add some ‘honey’ bee honey to get the maximum result to over come the difficulties of ‘cough’. NO it is not possible to use the same scale for you to get the ‘niyamitha maathrawa’ (the required dose) in ayurvedha I am sure they have a particular thing to measure the syrups etc.

Sorry this time it is ‘honey’ took my thoughts away from this page, the conversation of the guy and the girl …….

So her answer was …… ‘This is not the season’ (that is why there is no orange to be found around you, this was what she meant).
Do you think that we should try to understand the colloquial languages that others speak? Do you think that it helps us to maintain a better relationship between our friends or with others who live different parts of our motherland?

In Thanamalwila ( in about year 1994 professor ‘Karunatissa Atukorala’ took us to this area for the first time of my life) they say ‘indikatuwa binduna’ (the needle is broken- is this the correct English) but we ( most of us) generally say ‘indikatuwa keduna’ am I right?

Api bindinne ‘mati (clay)kala’ ( pots- that we use to store water- you can always keep your water in a cooler condition if you use a kale or a ‘guruleththuwa’- a handy clay pot) –( guruleththuwa is similar to labu kate ( diya labu and labu are varieties of vegetable which grow in a different climate and weather conditions) NO I do not think that it is a fruit, the doctors say this special variety of vegetables help you to have and maintain healthy ‘lever’) that is what we break yes you are write ‘the glasses’ (veeduru bindinnath puluwan’ No I do not like to talk about ‘hith’ ( minds) Oh! Yes we pol bindinawa ne. samaharu pol gahanawa which is very bad I believe. Some people think that ‘pol gaha weradi karanawa kiala’ (according to the things that my grand parents ‘pol gaha kawadaawath aparaada( crime) karann neha’ – the coconut tree never engage in any crime) it is stupid to expect something good engage in such activities ( pol gahana)

In matara this is how they remove the coconut husk ‘pol oyanawa’
But what do we do here?  api pol leli gahanawa’ (any opposing ideas?)
This has nothing to do with fruits but I thought of sharing my thoughts just to give you a better picture of what I am trying to say ?

Back to fruits …….
what do you think now? do you think that it was a very fruitful conversation between the guy and the girl?

Every fruit has it’s own colours, own shapes and sizes, and demands ‘guna’ (nutritious stuff - good for your health and for a healthy body) aguna ( not very nutritious for some but very nutritious for some other you know some times ‘the tuna fish is not good for some of the people who are in different health conditions, so some of the fruit may not give you better or expected results some times , bad for your health)’ it is like ‘some of the chaarithra’ of a society ( the things, lets say values and customs  that are accepted by the society you live that is ‘chaarithra’ vaarithra is something that are not accepted by the society) vaarithra is not really the taboos but harmful in some way. (recently I watched a tele- drama, the scene was this, during a wedding ceremony the bride and the bride groom was pushed in to a closest swimming pool’ none ( I believe) can swim and that was unexpected situation for the couple. That is a bad habit of a group of friends. Those are vaaritthra and you can think of many.

Let’s walk around the nearest fruits market for a minute, shall we?

The truth is my friends ‘we refrain from buying ‘the spoiled fruits’ we love to buy only the fresh fruits. Who likes? Me? no.

I do not know how this can be applied to the realities of life. How about you? let me think of this part some other time.

So the fundamental truths of life never changes and this too we can learn just looking and observing a fruit that is there in your refrigerator or in a wattiya (this we locally use to store and bring and take and keep things made of ‘pung’ we have a centre somewhere between Polonnaruwa - Colombo route if my memory is accurate- the wonder of Asia) watakeiyya- leaves of a tree )or of a welenda - trader/seller.

Just take the fruit out of the refrigerator and observe how it going to change.

Fruits are not very expensive here in this country. Diwul (woodapple- the most beautiful apples that we grow here in this soil) have you tasted the MD- Woodapple jam’ a better quality I do not mind saying it to the world.
Heen naran (a small/tiny varieties of oranges- green skin)

‘Veralu’-

Veralu gediya hari hatakata kapagena kotahak nokaa deguruntath bedagena ……
‘Veralu gediya hari hathakata kapagena’(sharing equally – just one fruit with seven members) kotahak ( a share/ a portion ) noka deguruntath bedagena’ ……..( keep another share without eating for the parents degurun – the parents)

Veralu is a local fruit it is so tiny this will easily slip from your fingers if you do not think of holding it tightly. You know that ‘if you know to share this little fruit with about 7 members what is the fruit that you can not be shared with others. Tell me friends if you can?

Who taught us this’ lesson ‘ the love and warmth of sharing what is available with your friends, country mates ( what I meant here is the available, or limited resources we have) our ancestors’ our muthun mitto. (Our grand parents, great, great (no doubt no) grand parents etc) they are the greatest of all, the grand parents. It is true that we think differently compared to the way that they think on certain matters/issues/ things of the present society. But I guess finally they win. I feel happy not all the time though (how come that they win all the time)

‘lowi’ and uguressa’  the outer colour of these two fruits very stunning and a very sexy and unbelievably tasty (is it alright to use the word ‘sexy?) this fruit will produce a little sourly taste there is a solution for that if you like to try it out eat them with some salt ‘you will feel wonderful’ I mean the taste. Do not try to brush your teeth after eating sourly fruits it is not possible (joke) just go to ‘Nugegoda pola’ the new market building, built very recently look so spacious and free to walk and choose what you want. You can buy 100 grams of this fruit for just 50 – 60 rupee range.

Nelli – my love fruit :)

Soooo rich in vitamin ‘c’ and a herbal fruit that can do wonders from head (hair) to toe of your body, for a healthy body. This is a lovely tree. Have you seen a picture of this tree before at least? Very small leaves the fruits generally look as a good team. And sometimes not visible but enjoy looking at their people over to the little branches of the tree .  And you ill encounter a little seed inside lowi, uguressa and nelli fruit. They all similar or slightly different in shapes and sizes ( nelli with rasakinda is a wonderful herbal drink)

Gal siyambala – come to nuwara during ‘perahera’ (who am I to give you an explanation on ‘nuwara perahera/kandy parade? You know better than me for sure)to try this fruit. Dark in colour (black) brown inside (the eatable and fruity area of the fruit) and little seed within is a tasty fruit.

You know how tired I am now?

This fruits and life talk I never can end for sure ….. shall I note that this explanation is to be continued …… ?

Let me take a little break with a ‘munchee sudu apple’( Munchee Apple puff)

Baba mama genath anawekiyak kianna puluwanda ……… ? :)

Baby …… (Sweet heart) what can you predict about me? …….( PLEASE)

have a fruitful month ahead! .......

Hurrrraaay! ..... found a new blog :) : )

I was searching for some information on the internet today and for that I generally read the news papers I like so this is what I found ‘Chamika’s blog’ thanks to the newspaper I discover a new ‘BlogSpot’ for me to read.  He has given us a link to read because he says he does not understand English. I suppose he is asking us to translate (Oh! Sorry I am not the one who knows English no)  some other person has to do it.

I loved so much the title
She sells, her self, but please let her be …..

This little title reminded me of a song or is it a poem I do not know

She sells
Sea shelves
On the sea shore

I would love to do that not because I love ‘the sea’ so much I love to play with sea shelves not with  you know ……. ? That is my way’

And Chamika malli can you please try to get the Sinhalese translation for me to understand his ‘vision’ in a better way. ? And may be you can post it on your blog and do not forget to get some publicity alright brother.
( i don't know whether i should use this word 'brother' and i am not pointing my finger at ' real brothers who watch me what i do, READ WHAT I WRITE WITH A GOOD HEART and who wish me 'best of luck' I AM NOT ADDRESSING THEM HERE USING THE WORD 'BROTHER' THEY ARE REAL BROTHERS TO ME. NOT JUST 'BROTHERS'

When you were a kid what did you play with? The words? Which type of words? ‘Who taught you those words? (Sorry! I shouldn’t have asked this question) OK tell me how did you learn to convey the message you want, so handsome way?

mage appachchiye ........ oyata ekata lebila thiyena comments goda?  -
i felt  little jealous with you, you know ' because of the number of comments you have received' for your post starting from Chamika malli

So that means …….. Some enjoy looking and taking pictures like that NO!

I feel so happy to see ‘brother like friends’ who are so worried about you know some women of our society.
May be you don’t know this brother some do not care about money but care about other things’ this is not a saint saying brother. I hope you understand this brother.

Oh my god before I forget ‘ how should I register my way ‘blog-spot’ do I have to go to the department social services or somewhere else.

I am sure I will have to find out a way to register before they gonna ban my ‘blogspot’ on the spot.

Anyways happy blogging!
