According to the some of the reports of mulpitu,(front pages) reported by the ‘mulpituwa’ by a mul putuwa of the most tallest HOUSE of our country

Some do not want Sri Lankans to be participated in ‘THE OLYMPICS’

My opinion here is that one must first understand the meaning of the ‘OLYMPICS’ 

ALL THE VERY BEST LONDON OLYMPIC -2012 ! 

What is this ‘Olympics’ in short? Here is my explanation please remember that I am not an expert in giving explanation on things I see and say things according to the my knowledge and understandings on certain things on ‘society’ and other things 

Olympic is not just ‘GAMES’ that is a sign and true peace broker of ‘PEACE AND HARMONY’. Olympic is not for showing any territories of a, country that is a ‘world’ (one word but ‘PLURAL’)

Who wants peace? Who does not want peace? Think a while

Let me stop here for a moment and proceed to the same direction but in a little different way.

Following is a little description of a person I know very much since childhood.

Place of birth (upan sthanaya)– Jaffna (Army Hospital Thellipallai)

This one is a man but not a ‘porak’ I am not good in translating some Sinhalese words in to English because I m not good in that subject.

But I know that this word is in use in the normal society amongst some people, peer groups but this is not the word used in ‘written language unless it is really necessary to explain something and also for ‘official matters’ ‘ advanced’ ( this word has a broader sense) things on our society

Following are few of the words that you may hear that some use if you just walk a little from here to there or from there to here or to some where and to everywhere 

A pora , ara pora, mara porawal, hari porak thamai , mehemath porawal, unuth porawalda, etc 

I understand some of the ‘anwartha namayan’ that people on certain things of the society that some use on some purpose but to tell you frankly I sometimes don’t understand this ‘numberization’’ flowerization’ colourizations’ or and some .com things on some of the things this I have noticed since couple of months or so. But I very well understand ‘the words’ ‘globalization’ generalization’ etc 

I thought this morning ……….

Whether some ‘misunderstands’ the things I say or write ‘ I have no ill wills behind what I am writing or saying. Also I thought whether I should use the following words before every note I write or before every saying I say

‘Nam gam manakkalpithai’ ‘following bare no resemblance to any one or any place in particular’ like some use in some things on some purposes. That is also not possible sometimes because I write things on I see and hear or watch or observe, read’

but in certain incidents I particularly aiming or aimed certain a particular group or a person I accept and admit that honestly. I am sure that some of you have read ‘dear ministers of gas and milk powder and cement’ 

 So I like to say that ‘footpath is my life’ ‘I love this path’ I NEVER USE THIS PATH TO INSULT ANYONE OR ANYTHING……..  

‘Rata thamai palamu thena’ ‘our country is the first’ and there is nothing above that everything else second to this word and its meaning - ‘country’

So let me come back to the ‘little description’ of the person that I mentioned earlier but before that I always have few questions on some things I hear these days. So I thought of sharing those thoughts with you this time as well…………..

On what basis we can say or use some wordings, sentences or the ideas  that we generally use in general conversations, un official things, the conversations that generally have outside ‘big discussions of responsible personal’ ( official) such as ……..that ‘this is mine’ this part is ours’ ‘that part belong to them’, don’t take them’ ‘take them’, ‘ stop giving orders’, ‘ don’t take that serious’, ‘ they are bad’, ‘we are good’, ‘ we need the big share’, ‘ we need at least a little share’ ‘ we need them in writing’ ‘give them nothing’, ‘don’t love them’ ‘ they have no brain’, ‘ common tap/ well is not public but private’‘ we have the brain’, ‘how dare you say so’, ‘ only my friends are good’ ‘all others are bad’, ‘ no right to rehabilitate’, ‘ don’t rebuild’ ‘ they did nothing’ ‘ we did everything’,

All parts, areas, districts, provincials, of our country belong to all the people. No way can we mark territories, NEVER in a wrong manner.

We HAVE ONLY ONE ‘DEED’ and have not issued any duplicates according to my knowledge.

All these are MY PERSONAL VIEWS AND PLEASE REMEMBER that I HAVE NO FAMILY MEMBER IN THE PARLIAMENT and I AM NOT A GOVERNMENT WORKER. THE TRUTH IS THAT I AM A CITIZEN OF THIS COUNTRY that can not be changed for any reason. Every word that were written on this foot path is solely and purely mine no one is responsible for what I m saying or writing. 

Have you heard about that person before? ( the little description given earlier)

 He lives in an old kingdom about four kilometers away from the capital of that last kingdom of our beautiful, brave, country. You may see him flying with a three wheels and sometimes walk with his foot neat and demandable in work that he is good at popular among friends, little arrogant only when he sees his siblings have moved away the ‘paapissa’ from where it should be kept. He is particular about the right ‘aliment’ he does not want others to move his ‘cup of tea’ from where he keeps to some other place. ‘Father like and I become a child before him. I was the big boss earlier lost my place after ‘he became about 5.8” tall. This person is taller than me in many ways. I have the certificates of this and that and I have the photograph taken on the day that I graduated, but before this person all that become ‘nothing’ this particular person has a very little to show, including his birth certificate, identity card, driving license, school leaving certificate etc but this person has many other valuable things ‘within’.  

I have fallen in love with Jaffna mainly because of this person who has a ‘very strong biological bond’ with me other than that who will not fallen in love with that particular ‘district’ ‘area’ because it is  a MAJOR PART OF OUR ONE AND ONLY COUNTRY WE HAVE. ‘THIS IS ALL WHAT WE HAVE’ all other things come second to this and have less value.

 He took my thoughts back to the Jaffna peninsula this morning . There was a time that we teased him saying only when we have little fights, he recently visited ‘Jaffna’ with few of his friends we used to tease him ‘ah game yanawa wage neda kaalekata passe’

(generally we say ‘game yanawa’ – when one is heading to his/her birth place or to home town, kaalekata passé – after a long time) just because he was born in Jaffna. 

He has not visited Jaffna during war period because he is not a member of all brave forces and only has seen the news updates of battle on television and I am sure he has read many things about it. He has his own views on ‘politics’ and on many other things that he sees and hears.  He is the same person who sends a bag full of daily necessities when my amma comes to Colombo to see nangi and me. 

So thinking of my own memories about Jaffna I remember ‘Shivamani’ and ‘red onion’ these are the only things I remember of Jaffna ‘hearts’ who helped my mother and my father a lot back in 1976.

Ah one more thing ‘raa’ ‘toddy’ i remember these words were very popular 

Wait a moment I‘ll tell you who that person is?  ‘Patience’ is a lovely word but I know that is a ‘hard to practice word’ ‘only the winners know the word better.

It is my everyday habit that I visit ‘Malinda words/poems’ every day (except on some days) 

‘This is not who we are’ I like the title more than the poem because of many reasons. And that has become one of the most visited/read poems of his collection of poems and that is there on the list after lovely poem ‘nangi if you just visit his page you will notice that. So I thought of using the same title to explain my views on these things and here I shared what I did with you. Shall I use the words ‘I borrowed the title’( I did not get his permission to use his words here) 

Say yes to terrorism NO NEVER!‘ this is not who we are’ I thought of these words after reading the poem and I tried to apply this ‘meaningful words’ to the ‘whole society’.

We say NEVER to terrorism. This is who we are. 

Dear President Defeating the LTTE was NEVER A CHALLENGE FOR YOU’  and for that you got adequate support from all the brave heart groups of all three forces, police, the village level guardians, civil committee members, the village level guardians (gam batta - I use this word with love-and with respect) and the citizens of this country were with you. 

How come this ‘rarely visit’’ little think about country’ ‘not shed a drop of sweat for the sake of our people, for the sake of the country’ ‘not sent a single pill for the sake of any group’ on behalf of not even of their own parampara will ever be a challenge for you and it is very difficult to believe such a saying sir.

And I BELIEVE  that the person whom I am describing ‘giving you some information’ has NO RIGHT TO SAY THAT JAFFNA IS HIS NIJABIMA JUST BECAUSE HE WAS BORN IN THAT SOIL. BECAUSE I KNOW THAT HE HAS DONE NOTHING FOR THE SAKE OF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE AND HE HAS NOT CONTRIBUTED ANY LABOUR OR OTHER WISE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THAT PARTICULAR AREA OF OUR COUNTRY EVEN BEFORE OR AFTER THE ‘HUMANITARIAN WAR AGAINST TERRORISM’ ( THE LTTE)

  And I also very strongly believe that he is not that stupid to believe so.

 As a citizen of this country we also have some ‘right’ towards working or talking on behalf of our country and for the development of the whole mankind of the whole world it is not ONLY  a duty of the police department of a country also that is a responsibility of a ‘citizen’.

So let me tell you now who that person is ‘HE IS MY BROTHER’ ……………..

MADAME Manel , SIR Abeysekara …………..

I received a little message from a dear friend very recently. So the little message took me back to the faculty of arts, University of Peradeniya, and to thoughts and theories of Max Weber and Bureaucracy.

I do not know how difficult or easy it is to be a ‘Diplomat’, you need to represent your country ‘you can not make any mistakes’ here I believe.  ‘Nilabala kramaya’ or ‘the bureaucracy’ I think this is a very ‘intelligent dominated’ ( I wonder, is it fare to use such a word)  field but a very ‘responsible  and no place for ‘irresponsibility’ kind of a field to discuss. ‘Responsibilities’, dealing with time, planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, sustainability, accountability, transparency I do not know how one can handle all these ‘altogether’ not easy especially when someone has to deal with all sorts of ‘people’ with different ‘educational’ backgrounds, ‘thinking’ different ‘political views’ ‘cultural differences of different cultures, globally’, own political and economical views of different diplomats, sometimes to deal with different diplomats in different times,  of this different world. Thinking of the historical backgrounds of different cultures across world, ruled or governed by the different administrative systems, or governments, heads of states  I am thinking do you generally get the chances to exchange or to learn different ‘things relate to  the same subject you are dealing with? ’  

I very recently watched an interview (please pardon I really can not remember the name of the TV channel I guess that was MTV the sports channel?) with The German Ambassador Mr. Jens Plotner  since 2009 ( the website reveals his service to our country is ongoing) who has completed his three years in our country dear  ambassador did you mention that you will be leaving our country to Tanzania or to Tunisia (?) but I am certain that you were mentioning something about your likes about countries beautiful landscapes of our country, different flavours and tastes of different local dishes . 

‘Remember you are asking this from a diplomat’ (?) ( I remember he was saying this to the person who was hosting the interview on one of the questions he asked pertaining to some things or of his views on a certain thing) 

Thinking of Germany I never can forget Dr. Ralf Starkloff (who is married to Dr. Nireka weeratunge/Anthropologist- i will have to write a book to explain her contribution to my knowledge) a sociologist, a teacher to me in various ways I remember we were visiting the ‘German Harithagama’ / Galle ( a tsunami village built and financed by the German government ) located little interior from Galle town was a good contribution to our country specially when we were in trouble this was the period that the government advised the civilians to resident about 100 (?) meters away from the sea area. Am I right? The German experts have decided the design of the village I believe. 

 I like to come back to you again Madame just to verify few things that I have in my mind and I believe you have very thoughtful answers on most of the things I am asking here

( deli pihiya – is this still using in the saloons of men, for shaving beard now I have no idea,  the rough meaning of the wording is eating curd with a knife kind of thing instead of using a spoon for that purpose?) 

Personal views of something of a diplomat and the views of a country and the political, economical, social representations of his/her own country are these things get confused or how are these things were handled? 

Dear Madame,

Did you get any chances to meet Imelda Marcos the wife of Ferdinand Marcos and ‘have you got any chances to see Imelda’s dream tree of royalty’? Were you invited to see her dream palace back then?  How do you see such characters? 

I remember reading a book written based on her life, the book mentioned that she had a collection of 3000 shoes from various countries, do you remember? That much of shoes just for a single person to worn? She was the first woman of that country in that Era? What a waste of money. (This is my personal view) the whole world was amazed and felt ashamed of her I remember. 

The Iron Lady ‘Margaret Thatcher’, ‘the iron lady concept’ how useful these things for a diplomat or the ‘iron man ‘concept? I like to know whether ‘iron’ or ‘steel’ kinds of things ever melt ‘before humanitarian’ side of bureaucracy?

How do you see these things Madame?

‘Benazir Bhuto’ how did you see her style of handling diplomats? We have the smiling and memorable memories attached with the trophy that the gentlemen of cricket in 1994 of our country brought in. I am sure that the cricket council must have the photograph of the memories of ‘the worldly world cup memories of 1994.

‘Charismatic authority’ or charismatic power’ how do you see these concepts? As a carrier woman could you please tell us if possible, who was ‘the most charismatic character’ that you have ever met during the long journey of your carrier?  

Ms. Sirima Bandaranayake’ was she really had the opportunity to use her ‘praja ithiya’ on certain things of the society of her era? What is the ‘ithiya’ (right) of a member of society to know these things? ‘ithiwaasikam and ithiya did you really had the ithiya to talk or expressed your personal views on certain , certain things of the society you represented at certain periods of country?

‘become # ‘1’ that is the general dream of a child or a parent sometimes in each and every field they like to get engage or involve in? Is it something that gives a child/ person some moral support to lead a leading life in their preferred fields? 

Is diplomacy a must have quality’? 

International or national, internal or external dealings related to your carrier what was the situation back then in relation to ‘official dealings’ with different cultural and political backgrounds even in the same region do how difficult it is to be totally independent. 

How full is your bag of experiences collated traveling across not only in different continents but also hearts and minds of this world?

YOU WERE THE ONLY 'AARACHCHI' WHO BECAME A 'LAKSHAPATHI ' OF HEARTS OF THIS COUNTRY .....................

'AARCHCHI' was a 'village level position' of local administration system, of this country, old Ceylon, and even in the recent past we used to call ape aluth 'gramasevaka' - 'arachchi mahaththaya'(grama sevaka -the one of the most important grass root level positions of our local admin system appointed by the government of our country. The current situation is that one can not just get the thanathura' position if he/she does not passes the gramasevaka vibhagaya' ( exam) there is a particular exam ( written) for a person who is willing to apply for the particular position, this was the situation of recent past and 'now'  to qualify for the position mahaththuru 'aarachchi mahaththaya'. 


it is no easy to be a good 'aarachchi mahaththaya' even if you have the 'aarachchi' the family name or the parampara name before or after your good name. people will not accept or respect the officer that they do not like. 


arachchi was a leader who was very close to his people, villagers than any other, he understood the weaknesses or the strengths of his people of his village.

so this particular aarachhci of our people, of a specific generation, ' an innovator' of some strong voices, and personalities also was a heart who understood the rhythm of his people and or of the new generation. there is a difference in these two aarachchi the reason is obvious i believe. he was a arachhci of hearts and minds of our people. 


Nimal Lakshapathi aarachchi was a person who obtained love and respect from most of the people who associate with 'Radio and television media'. he was not a stranger to his people, the world village of music and media.


my deepest sympathy Ms. Lakshapathi aarchahi and to the whole family


'muwan pelesse 'ape aarchchi mahaththaya' kaatada amathaka? 


how old is this character 'korale mahaththayo' (Mr. Warakagoda) Ms. Rathnawali kekunawela? can you remember?


who will forget our aarchchci mahaththaya or the korale mahaththaya of ever famous 'Muwan pelessa' ? who will forget that aarchchi mahathaya though he was little different to the aarachchi's of our era, or today thinking of the personalities of many different fields. 


He was proud and this position was one of the 'lakuna' of our old society. this was a very effective character or a position in the old society of our local admin system. This position of old ceylon reminded us of the very different social and economic situation back then. society was different, country was different back then, the attitudes, levels of education' thinking towards 'economy' 'ideas of 'deshaabhimanaya' or 'paramparabhimanay'' deshapalanaabhimanaya' all these were different then compared to now.


 'Monarathenna'' 'wevathenna', 'Baddegama' or even in other parts of the villages in Old Sri Lanka the system or the position of arachchi mahathathaya shown no difference. the role the arachchi mahaththaya had to play was 'unique' 'the role he was expected to play' his duties, were the same in all the villagers of old Sri Lankan. 

There was another position in old usawi system am i right? ( old courts system) 


winning all the hearts across the globe or even the hearts of a country, own country is not easy. especially when people have different 'attitudes' 'liking, interests, choices, preferences, flavours, of different things of this different world. if you think that someone or something 'handsome' or ugly some other may think the opposite. 


even this is applicable to some of the applications or explanations of the following words 'pride' or 'proud'' light' or 'darkness' 'love' or 'hate, 'anger' or 'affection' 'red, white' or black', etc 
if you appreciate or give some credit to something the others may do the opposite. the world is different and the people are different too. i know that.

you are a millionaire in the hearts of millions of people. these people hold no particular colour, your 'fans' 'listeners' 'viewers' those are the name of the colours of the rupee note you won. that was how you became a lakshapathi i believe.


so i like to dedicate this piece of writing to Mr. Lakshapathi aarchchi and also i like to take this opportunity to 'thank  you' 'all' for visiting 'My foot path'

MAY THIS WORLD FILLED WITH ETERNAL HAPPINESS FOREVER 

ANOTHER TRUTH OF LIFE ..................

SO ……. Finally you decided to go leaving all your fans here in this world. Were you tired of this world? No I believe.  Fine …… that is your decision after all who are we to oppose to your decision.

Fate and destiny I really do not know the difference of these two concepts there is something so special other than the literary meaning of the words that is for sure, any similarities?

The King of Old Bollywood has decided to change his residence and the other king who fought against the ‘colour icons’ mentalities is still brave and steady in heart celebrating his birth day ( 95^th ?)

Rajesh khanna was a no stranger to this ‘Black and white’ world of cinema he understood the colour differences of the very colorful cinema as well, very well I believe.  What is black what is white? Or else which is better ‘white or black’they very well know I believe or is it the ‘both’ that too they very well understand I like to think.

two different personalities, of two different black and white companies of this world and they are from two different sides of this world. 

Life is so interesting when we try to analyze with these two not strange to each other colours ‘black and white ‘am I right?  Carefully watch you will not see pure white or pure black and that is ‘impossible’ in any of the society we live.

Mr. Khanna taught us (he was one of the hearts) that ‘both Black and White’ can be seen in  ONE particular creation of this world. Think of the ‘creations’ before he started touching the ‘colour codes of different other media’s of life.

Dear N. Mandela taught us ‘Who says the white is the Best?’ it is not the colour that worth most, one’s heart, he taught. Different sides, shapes, thoughts of the hearts and minds of this world naturally show different identities of different hearts and minds in different stages of life.

No easy to hold ‘independent ideas’ of a particular thing or a concept because this ‘independence depend on most of the other dependent realities of life. Dependency or interdependency or the liberty can we really take any of these as an independent concept and separate and analyze putting them in to an independent structure? One can not truly avoid the situations of getting mixing one’s own ideas with other colour combinations. But very rarely some do that so brilliantly and they understand the differences of colours and they do not hesitate to tell the world that ‘Black and White’ is not the only colours that exist in this world.

I am sure Nelson Mandela has visited the colourful India and I don’t know whether he has got any opportunities to meet this King of historical India. They say that he was the first super star but he was not a lonely star at all. There were many bright stars who accompanied him through out his journey I am sure there were many not only 7 stars, wanna be a star, tried to be stars and the most important thing here was that the ones who loved to research the lives of these types of stars ‘did not bother too much about unnecessary or necessary affiliations of the star but was so much concentrated on knowing the ‘magnificent talents of this stars and their contributions to the development of Indian cinema. ‘Searching or going behind gossips related to different stars is not really the job of good stars in other fields.

Life is an achievement. And for some it takes different numbers of decades to reach to the top levels of the other achievements and that happens within this major achievement called ‘LIFE’

Mandela Lives in the Southern part of Africa but I am sure he understands the different colours of the Eastern Part of India and the beautiful colours of her neighboring country.

It is no easy to live more than a silver jubilee ( 25 years) behind bars let me wish you Happy Birth day ‘ many happy returns of the Day’ Mr. Mandela.

Tell me how many ‘Aradhana’( Invitations) pathra you sent to your friends asking to come for the party? Did Sharmila Tagore agree to come for the party? I never think she will come leaving her friend there without wishing him ‘SAFE JOURNEY’

I read that India and SA are not strangers to each other. The satyagrha movements ‘non – violent concepts’ a follower of Mahathma Gandhi’ his active participation in 100^th anniversary of Non violent movements, they are no strangers those were the acceptable proof.

Mr. Khanna was a big contributor, a non violent contributor and a revealer of many things of ‘Black and white screen’ of the Indian cinema back then. Achieved a lot in life I guess non violent way.

The sources say that SA has 11 official languages that people are practicing within the country. Any ‘mixings’ with kannada or with Hindi may be it is possible in small world like this right? I felt happy I m sure that you will have no problems reading my way of English then. Multi – ethnic, Multi economical features of SA are nicely tallying with the situations in India I personally believe. ‘Uniqueness’ is a different thing to be discussed I believe.

‘Politics of SA’ I have no idea because I am not a fan of politics in SA but if you just try to read the ‘characters of silver screen of historical India back then ( Bollywood) I am sure you will get no idea of politics in SA but for sure political situation of in historical India just ask ‘Bobby’ the situation back then in India ( Bobby was one of the best films of MS. Khanna, 1973- I believe and I have a question to ask ‘was that her first performance with the handsome father of Sawariya Boy?) Yes, right?

Indian national Movements and SA’s historical movements that has many things to do with the participations and immense contributions of Mr. Mandela which lead the country towards better movements is ‘worth studying’. This will add some colours to our movements, proceedings in the future as well. There are things that we can learn from each other.

Understanding this ‘Black and white’ concept of life (not the concert of ‘KURULLO UMBE THAALEN PIYA BANNA AASAI …….) how can this be useful to the people of the other parts of the world don’t you think that it is ‘not a bad idea’?

Black and white’ gives and shows the ‘people’ the ‘different identities of different people’ for sure. The identity is a mixture of ‘both black and white’ don’t you think so? Black or white these are not particularly a product of ‘a painter’ it is a product of a society’ (No, can’t name one particular society this ‘truth’ is applicable to all the existing societies of this whole world)

My identity is a product of this society yours too, their’s too, ‘identities are not purely a product of a ‘family’ or a school, but a genuine product of a society. Colours and shapes and sizes of identities may change over time. Here I am trying to think of these two different identities of two different cultures of two different identical continents (in most of the things’ we all human’) ‘identical humans’ I hope you understand what I am trying to say here. Human is a product of a human.

What we need to understand here is that ‘white’ is not the colour of ‘sympathy’ or ‘sorrow or ‘genuineness’ and black is not the colour of ‘darkness’ ‘badness ‘No purely and originally these colours of human world were little strong in other ways. Both black and white is two of the colours of ‘LIFE’ ‘sindagee’ is that the right word?

May you attain Nibbana! I am sure and I believe we may have met before in this sansaric journey of mine and yours Mr Khanna. I don’t think that you are a stranger to me though we have not met in this journey of yours and mine. The difference is that you have gone to see some other parts of this universe I am still wandering here and there of this part of the universe. And you have achieved ‘life’ and we most of walking in search of life.  May be we were close friends in the journeys I made previously to colorful India.

This is what you saved for the people of this part of the world before leaving to the other side of the your choice of wonderful world right?

Little, little lessons from big, big responsible past ………..

‘Heliye kunu nebiliyen wahanna’ this is what my grand mother once told me during a very informal discussion between some relatives of our family.

( heliya is a cooking utensil, a clay pot- ‘cover the dirt of the pot from the nebiliya’ – this is a another kitchen item which we use to separate sand from the rice before cooking) nebiliya is one of the things that we don’t use that much these days because the farmer now separate paddy from sand and other dusts etc on the ‘Kamatha’ ( the most sacred, important place of the paddy land, this is the place that farmers do every necessary ‘clearing and sharing’ before reach the harvest to the ‘Vee bissa’ ( paddy storage place)collating, gathering( togetherness), clearing and cleaning, distributing,( for example ‘kotasa’ ( share)of the ande goviya ( ande goviya is not the owner of the paddy land. He gets the land from another person to cultivate and he generally has to give I believe .5 of the yield to the owner. That is an unwritten agreement based totally on the trust between the landowner and the temporary farmer/ the cultivator) in the old system there were very little ganu denu ( give and take) were done on ‘cash’ they exchanged labour with paddy.  

‘Attam kramaya’ a way of exchanging labour is the very best way of regaining Unity, togetherness, trust, sharing, honesty,  a better solution for cash issues, labour issues,  time issues, if some thing had happen during other periods of the village/ community ( even now if a farmer does not have enough of money to pay for the tractors or for other things they follow this system. you have every little equipments, machineries now to clear the lands or the beds of the paddy lands, land preparation,  'seeding’and every other step there after can be easily done with the help of hands of the community members, the villagers. This ‘labour rotating system’ is slightly similar to the ‘shramadana’( here ‘we’ donate labour for free- danaya is something we give expecting nothing in return but according to the Buddhism you will get good results of the good deeds you do, the things that you do with a good will having no ill wills) ‘chetanahan bikkawe kamman wadaami’ for every particular thing you do it is the ‘thought’ that generates one’s within that leads you to achieve good results or bad results. If you have a non harmful thoughts within you will suely obtain good results not only for you it will affect the whole society you live.   So this shramadanaya is a group effort. 

So the above saying ‘heliye kunu nebilyen wahanna’how can it be applied to the very small unit or an institution of a society and to the very big institutions and finally to the internal and external affairs of a ‘country’ 

I recently read the ‘SAARC’ agreements of the heads of the states  that gave me at least some understanding on certain things pertaining to country’s internal and external affairs and why those things are important to handle in an independent way. Before we form any organizations local and international the members generally have to agree to certain rules and regulations respecting each others ‘cultural and political, social, economical independence or existence. 

We need to respect the privacy of a country, relations within the country members and the others have no rights to interfere unless if it is a matter which affects the big society, neighboring countries, the world lets say in short.

If you have any issues in a family unit how good it is to solve within the family not allowing external parties to get involved if it is not a major issues that can not be solved within the unit. 

Why are we sometimes not thinking about these things that will lead our thinking towards solving our own issues, small, small things of a family unit,our country within not allowing the outside parties to get involved. (There are things we need help actually big help, the advises of the experts, the financial assistance, etc) but there are things that we solely can solve within the family, country. 

In the past we were not this developed. We were known as a third world country, or a underdeveloped country, back then we needed help in some of the ways to built huge development projects such as ‘ Victoria’ ‘Randenigala’ etc. 

Thinking of the overall development of our country we have reached up to a certain level that we all can dream of another huge changes of future society. Balancing everything is what we really need. Development in certain things and I feel it is so good if we are poor in many other things I thought after reading Mr. Malinda seneviratne’s article posted on Malinda words ‘And up came the underworld’( 19 July 2012) No we do not want to see any development in this field. 

We have the ability to solve even the major issues within. Think of the ’30 year struggle of our recent past’ 

We know what is best for our people. This does not mean we do know everything and we do not need any help WRONG  we need help of our true friends we need to maintain good relationships between countries, we need to help each other when ever need help please remember that. the village man know what is good for the local soil, whether the soil of particular area better for gurkin or to grow dragon fruit sometimes than the experts of the original birth place of these fruits or vegetables that can be easily cultivated. 

The villager knows where the common well is located but for others they need to go and find out. They need to ask from a villager ‘the location’, the depth of the well, the history of the well. Who built it, when was the authority given for the public use’ janatha ithiyata pewaruwe kawadaada’, who owns the land of the well, generally how many are depending on this resource, how many of others are using other sources, etc , etc.

Who knows better of such things. The villager no doubt. Sometimes they know the solutions for their problems, they suggest solutions but they are powerless in some of the things though they are very powerful in human resources then comes the need of an interference of a relevant authority. And that will lead to protect the laws and regulations of a country I personally believe.i am not trying to letdown the knowledge of the experts here that is not the idea behind my saying. 

But if something, an issue can not be solved within an independent unit due to financial and big technical advanced knowledge the villager is unaware of then they need the help of the outsiders. ‘Dependency’  is not a good thing. I do not know how good it is to give ‘pin padi’ the remittances. 

There are things that can be easily solved within I tried to explained earlier in this essay. We do not have to send big experts from Big institutions, departments, ministries  to the isolated ( this is just an example and I believe today every village and city is very well linked compared to the past because of easy and better modes of transport etc) far away villagers for their small, small issues that can be solved their within, within the community, think of the time and other costs it is so useful if this can be practiced everywhere and every time. 

I saw some of our friends in some of the areas how they reacted to when the TV crews ( jathika rupavahiniya etc) visited people on some of the issues. I noticed that they expect and complains about many things , this is not really the answer that we should expect from the public I feel. Can’t we allocate just a one Sunday for a little gathering and collate little amount and find some solutions within in an organized manner sort of at least a temporary ‘organization’. How many more days are you waiting to the relevant authorities to come if they have other important things to attend it is sometimes not fare to expect such things to happen.

Lets empower the community based organization/ the grassroots level committees, societies etc for such an aim. Let’s support them. Let’s form few more CBO’s if there are no such things within a community. Lets encourage them giving little bit of advise if necessary, participation is what sometimes they expect from big sides. Technical advise if necessary There are ways to encourage them or there are things that can be done for the sustainability of such organizations. We can get enough of examples from the SANASA movement or the ‘SARVODAYA” if the villagers are willing accept and to share knowledge. In Ampitiya, Wevathenna there is no Sanasa society. I believe we need one in our village. There is a good strong ‘FA society in our village (Funeral assistance society) that is kind of a multi purpose organization. 

The available ‘Resources’ of a village within are the big resources for big plans

School children youth, retired GO and other officials, (one of the ways to obtain mature advise not allowing every one to play the role of the JP they worth more than that) they have no time to think of other things, bother about other things I believe if we do so. They worth millions. NO I m not trying to say anything against there right to organize’ gather’ if necessary. They are not weak or powerless that is what I am trying to think here. ‘wishramikayange sangamaya’ the society of the retired personal’ is a powerful society if there is a one very active.

How he prepares, how he collate necessary tools before goes, a robe may be, a bottle of water may be, etc 

If the man bring the wood unnecessarily , cutting unnecessarily all the vital trees that they should not think of cutting.  do you think that such men were qualified NO. He could have easily collated the dead branches, there are many options you have if you observe the surroundings very carefully only if you visit an unspoiled jungle.

Think of the lessons that we can learn from these little, little but big, big valuable ideas of our big, big past.

There is a value and demand for a cent not only for a rupee. If you start collecting or keep a side a hand full of rice everyday for ‘future use’ than just start cooking the whole kilo of rice from the boutique. Or if you find no money in your pocket, or of your wallet any moment you can used the saved stuff.  If I think of the wastage of rice and other things due to unplanned ways of cooking the meal of the day not knowing the needed or the required quantity we will have to throw the rest or the additional( personal experiences) 

Let’s try to apply this to the total number of hands we own in this country it is not only about savings’ the achieving big aims using the available resources we have. The biggest and the most vital resources of the world is ‘human resources’. If have two millions of population think of the power we have forget the machinery we have for a moment and hand machines still have some power. 

I am truly amazed at little, little things, little, little strategies, some use on little, little plans, at little, little places. Some are very intelligent in using accurate colour for the flag of the organization. They know how many members should get involved, what note you should give in order to purchase something accurately. If we are very intelligent enough in doing appropriate things on appropriate occasions, visits, why not use them for other purposes. If are good at planning things personal and private in a better way and achieving the better results how can that strategy not be possible to use for other important things for the sake of all.

I believe it is no use having the spoon in your hand if you have nothing to be shared. These things must come together. Some have the technical knowledge, some have the resources, and some own the abilities that others don’t have, some have the ability to contribute financially, the knowledge- other.

‘Uda balagena kela gaha ganna epa’- the world is tooo small now. think of this saying what will happen if we see up and spit needless to say the results am I right.
