For Leonardo da Vinci ..............................

Your friend Lisa is going from place to place, mind to mind, heart to heart, country to country, here to there, from there to here and stops somewhere for sometime and again goes to somewhere. Some touches her face says this and that. Some says she is mysterious and is just a woman. Some rate her from ‘0’ to different digits. I don’t know how many zeroes are there. Some argues and says ‘she is not worth this much and that much but this much. 

So Leonardo from where did you find this woman?  Just tell me exactly how many hours it took you to create her image on the canvas you liked so much.   

Did you find it easy to portrait her?  Just tell me frankly how did you really concentrated and exactly drew each and every sings of her face and her forehead.  

you are just fantastic Leonardo unbelievable.

Did you feel uncomfortable drawing her eyes? Let me guess you did not really tried to see through her eyes right.   you don't have to tell me Leonardo i understand how difficult it is to really read somebody's eyes accurately but you have done a marvelous job i sometimes forget my own eyes and feel like looking and reading her eyes. it is that amazing.

Are you sure that those are her true eyes?

No I am not telling that you drew someone else’s eyes on her portrait thinking of your No, No let me not think such an unrealistic way such a creative artists you are. 

Was she smiling at you or was she just looking at her own mate? You should have drawn them together what do you say? The merchant of Italy so did he allows you to portrait her without any showing any oppositions?

no wonder he did not want you to show it to the others how many days that you had to hide the portrait from others Leonardo? Was it too difficult?

I am thinking how did she come this far finally did she get the permission from her mate or she just ran away from Italy?  You showed her the way right?

So kind of you Leonardo i truly like it.

I like the type of dress she was wearing Dear Leonardo. was it too expensive ? No i am sure you did not have time to waste on asking such stupid unnecessary questions am i right?

Tell me was she happy seen her own face or did she had something to complain?  

Dear Leonardo please forgive me for asking too many questions alright that is my nature.

Tell me was it really her own portrait?  Did you ever tried to add any of your woman’s looks ? Let me guess ‘NO’ this is your answer I know.

I like to meet that the most luckiest man of this earth (any doubts?)   ‘Francesco Del Giocondo’ the true owner of this silent but always speaks heart of Francesco but let me tell you Leonardo I am so proud of you and did she say ‘thank you’?

KALU TONY .......................

One of the very recent telecasts of the 'dora mandalawa' ( ITN) revealed something very important i remember. Mr. Hasantha tried to explain the importance of writing or saying the name of the village before the name of the Buddhist thero (Maha sangha) how important it is for the 'village they were born'. most of those little villagers shines mainly because of the 'maha sangha' who contribute their knowledge for the benefit of the all.  

he was right and also he said that it is good if we try not to use game nama ( name of the village) before some of the characters known as gang leaders, criminals, murders etc or similar. 
that is true i beleive when ever there is a need to name or explain or reveal the names of those ones before the public it is good to mention that so and so is a man from that village instead of writing the name of the village before the name of a particular gangster lives or born. because i believe those ones are like 'pililayak' i don't know the correct English term for that it is like a incurable 'cancer' let me explain it that way. once it goes and lives in the society that will ruin the whole unit.

Let me take one of the different characters i have read and heard ' Maradankadawala Yakadaya' i believe he is a different person. and this is just an example i tried to give.

so thinking of the names of the maha sangha ' Thotagamuwe Sri Rahula, Bellanwila ape hamuduruwo, Madihe Pannaseeha, Maduluwawe Sobitha, Panadure Ariyadamma, we can think of many legendary names of maha sangha.

let me come back to my little title ..............

this 'Kalu Tony' Have you heard about him before? he is a world famous character and even the little ones are very much familiar with this name. If you see him you will surely feel to offer at least a glass of kurumba for him or have a cup of tea with him and a little chat with him.

even if he prefers to have some 'ranawara or polpala' that is also possible i believe. Have you tried these local and very old 'refreshments' Sir before? Try and tell how you really felt alright. 

Kalu the literal meaning of the word is 'dark' or black'  but here if we say kalu refereeing to ones complexion that is 'dark' need not to say.

'Kalu' i was trying to add this short but very well remembered name of one of our  worldly cricket heart  'Romesh Kaluwitharana' and Tony' is Mr Tony Greig. who will expect explanation from a person like me. but let me try a little to give a little explanation as i understood this cricket character 

Mr. Tony Grieg is one of my very favorite cricket commentators outside our country. He is unbelievably a marvelous comentator. he is a huge ground support, a supporter of any good cricket. his voice is so economical and very 'close to the hearts of our cricket fans. he is 'amazing' to be honest.

So this 'little Kalu' ( Romesh Kaluwitharana) is one of his favorites cricketers i understood every time when Kalu and Master blaster played good cricket as an opening pair.  

so i thought that it is perfectly alright to call Mr. TONY GREG ( please pardon me if i have written your name wrong way) 'Kalu Tony' with so much respect and gratitude. 

so it is alright no Mr. Hasantha if we create some new names like this for instance 'doramadalawe hasantha', ITN eke 'Maduka'.  'Nugasewane Chamila', 

So Mr. Tony becomes  Sri Lankan when ever he sees good cricket in this part of the world or that part of the world for sure. He loves this country i am sure and he is a good cricket fan of our team.

i personally believe that 'Kalu Tony' is a good friend we have and i like to dedicate this little piece of writing to the beautiful words he deliver when ever there is a very exciting cricket match.

HELLO TWENTY, TWENTY ........ ALL THE BEST TWENTY, TWENTY .............

I like to wish all our friends around the world ‘happy Ramadan’!

This is not the part of the world where cricket was born. Still we feel no stranger to this bat and ball game, Cricket. It is so interesting sometimes to observe the ball that prefers to dance for few moments up in the air close to the sky and it is sometimes bring sorrow for some and for some ‘happiness’ when ever the danced ball flipping through the fingers of any careless moments or in any of the moments that the batsman becomes the dominator and the emperor that loves to rule the ground of cricket.

If one couldn’t catch something properly the others may feel happy some others may cry. If you will fall while running others might celebrate but do not forget ‘that is cricket’ ‘what we should learn to practice here is that ‘not to celebrate’ any of the similar occasions outside cricket pitches even if you see that someone of your family (human family) falls or fells.

Laughing is one of the best medicines that the man has encountered and that is still an unbreakable record since the man innovated man or by someone else.  I don’t think that even Sir Garfield or Aravinda de Silva,Sir Sunil Gawaskar ever could break that kind of never breakable ‘truth’ attached to life outside cricket.

Weaknesses have no place in the game.  It is so beautiful to see the art of waving bat from here to there listening to the commands of the minds and brains of the batsman.

Oh! No please don’t raise your finger all the time upwards. Never try to point your finger towards a friend. I know, I know it is not easy to keep hands ‘still’ so wave it like a beautiful wave of the ocean bending the right hand a little bit towards the heart side. What do you say? Is that the correct way to indicate a ball that goes and touch the territory of four? 

Let me know the type of roofing of the pavilion of the cricket ground ‘warning’ they are unstoppable and the results are unpredictable that is the nature of unpredictable cricket ‘sixes’. Any special gifts allocated this time as well measuring the width and the length and the distance of the hit?  

I like to know that this twenty will not become fifteen no? Is there anyone below twenty? I mean 18 or 18+? No fourty, fourty I guess how sad? What is the retirement age in cricket? Is there something like that? Or is it the ‘strength and the talent’ of the players what matters most’ in cricket?

So you all belong to one huge cricket family we all belong to one fan family but we all at the end belongs to one big family ‘human’.

One side will celebrate if one goes for ‘zero’ and if walk in to the pavilion area with a sad mood bending his head towards earth but his members, family, fans, might get upset but that is not the end of cricket or the game perhaps. Players get another chance to play and win. The best player and the team will always win that is the nature of cricket or any games we participate ‘Asian, or Olympics’.

So Don’t forget ‘zero’ is a valid number and it is a huge number. Even if you goes for ‘zero’ at one point you will get another chance to score double hundreds that the nature. ‘don’t give up’ ‘ we will all win the day that the people learn to respect each others talents and that is the mantra of cricket I guess.

Do you want them to write ‘Two zeros after 1’ before your name? ‘Is that your ‘Target’ this time? Who likes to say ‘No?’

I see how excited you are now. Incredible cricket, try to give a ‘gentlemen touch’ to the all faces of cricket this time as well. We do not expect a ground full of scores but some ‘aliveness’ and peace of mind via your way of addressing people using the bat and the ball.

The ground support is unavoidably valid and immeasurably important am I right? The true support of true friends is amazingly encouraging in every way of living facing the life battles, all the oppositions that come your way.  

You may carry a sky full of memories home every moment is a moment even if you prefer to take one of the wicket or a ball as a souveniors do not forget that the friends and fans of your other side is unhappy for a moment, a day or so may be until they win another match. But I am sure that they understand that it is ‘cricket’ that we play. You need to be more and more accurate than the other players or the groups of the games if you are to earn the ‘victory’ of life or in cricket.

What is the situation in School cricket? Let me respect the ones who support to promote or improve cricket in this part of the world and across globe because ‘cricket brings health’ like in other authorized games.  

The trophy ‘the man of the match will get or the man of the series gets that is a sign of the spirit of team work. I have heard how some of you celebrated the moments of achieving ‘man of the match’ or the man of the series’ in the matches of cricket previously played with a very serious and a friendly mind with friends. Every ‘individual performances’ is calculated in cricket in ‘winning or loosing’ the game of cricket I believe.  

The third umpire will ease and clear the ‘doubts’ of most of the people in and outside of your play cricket ground.

Unpredictable scores, the postponed matches due to bad weather conditions also are unpredictable that is ‘cricket’.  

But this is not lazy cricket it is a little crazy cricket that teaches all around the world a massive number of life lessons. If any one of you fails to follow the team instructions, the moment you feel that you are not a member of your group it is not only you who fails the whole team the entire world of cricket fans.

‘Leader’ will lead but the others have to listen to him, ‘trust him, and support him to win the goal. There are people who lead a leading life in the world of human because of good quality cricket played.

West – Indies team is one of the teams that I like so much. Steve I wonder how other Steve’s became brilliant in cricket?  It is the music lesson that Steve Wonder taught all around the world that can create wonder in ones life.  

Maxy Priest, hello, are you ready to give ‘maximum entertainment’ to the music lovers of this ‘derana’.  

Ok ok let me forget ‘music’ for a moment and concentrate more on cricket in this ‘cricket season’.

The magic of Consciousness is that the other word we can use for cricket. Concentration on bat and ball rhythms how important it is to understand each and every movement of the player of the opposition. You can not take your eyes off even from the very same members of your same team.  If your team member is in the wrong position of the ground of play you need to remind him. Therefore you have to have your eyes wide open. Am I right here? ‘Openness’ in cricket is interesting to analyze I guess.

‘How was that’ is not always the issue in cricket or the lesson that ‘cricket reminds us to apply in to our life plays. ‘trusting’ the person who watch you or observe in the ground, the parents, two umpires who watch you while you are running from this wicket to that wicket and around the wicket, in to the middle, touching the territory of the ‘four limit’. You need to respect the decisions of them.

They have only four eyes’ not millions, but millions are witnessing the every decision they take true but they are not closer enough to oppose or to support the decisions like these two gentlemen. They carry no machineries or computers in to the grounds but they have the help of the cameras hidden in the play areas.

Records and recordings are important especially in this game ‘cricket’. These recordings are inerasable or not editable. So this recording is not like music recordings in some other recordings people may intentionally erase or misuse the recordings of something.  They may come and ask you ‘big numbers’ in rupee notes or they may ask something else will ruin your life forever ‘black mail you’ but that is different.

Let me try to apply this recording in to other recordings of life. I  some of the instances in trying to find proof or to prove something to somebody  some may not record the most important parts that reveal ones ‘true faces’ that is about generally recordings keep records of everything is a good habit. I guess we should use these ‘man made man use recorders for the benefit of the public. Not to harm any one of the public, or someone of a particular group.

Human errors are accepted and respected in ‘cricket’ though you may lose the ‘victory or the trophy’ that is perfectly alright I believe. That is the nature of cricket and I believe ‘rules of the cricket book’ will also respect this particular ‘truth’. Rules of cricket remind me of one gentleman in the history of cricket ‘Mr. Roy Dias.

I am not aware much about other fare tricks in cricket. ‘Quality balling styles, batting styles, blasting styles, kalu’s style.

Roshan Mahanama is one of the unique and genuine styles we had and still a ‘resource’

Oh how come that I forgot to mention ‘cricket commentaries’. Ranjith Fernando, Kamal Dehspariya, Palitha Perera, Brian Gomes my all time favorite ‘ PREMASARA EPA SINGHE’ how are you sir?

Who will be there I wonder……..

Eye witness is important in cricket Muttaiah Muralidaran his ‘magnifying eyes’ sometimes revels the importance of ‘aim and the target’ of cricket.  We will not always expect ‘super sixe’s (in reel world) it is good to always have a target in cricket and in life.

I just tried to see this cricket season ‘20twenty’according to the different seasons of life I have experienced and viewed. Dear letter 'D' ......................

(This is a dedication note to the creator of the ‘ Malalasekara English Sinhala DICTIONARY – Professor G.P.Malalasekera)

Dear friends I sometimes enjoy analyzing letters, for me letter ‘D’ is a very dear and a dear letter.

The word ‘Dictionary’ comes before all other letters as a teacher and that is one of the best ‘self learning technical guide’( Malalasekara English – Sinhala dictionary) we have in almost all the houses across country and world wide and this is a very dear book in my book shelf and that has become so close to my life in every way.

I guess in every library it is a must have book. I don’t know how many copies that each library own for the children and also for all levels of students to learn a new word or a word that they do not know. I sometimes read all the very high standards writings of all good writers, authors with the help of the dictionary. 

Damayanthi Darsha is a resource we have and I thought it is good to mention her name to respect her we sometimes do not get much chances to say ‘thank you’ for their contribution to the whole world of sports. she is a star and a memorable sports heart in the history of our sports. 

Innovative Dilshan has become ‘dil’ (heart) amongst many even in India and across world of cricket lovers. Unfortunately I am not qualified to explain the ‘Dilscoop’ but I see how wonderful it is to watch when it goes straightly in to the wicket keeper slightly touching the bat of the any right hands or left hand batsman.

I like to travel long ‘Distance or all the distance than a shorter distance around a village or a community.

Dear deputy directors and directors of all departments across the country will direct the country and its people towards a better direction and here the services are not strict to one district I believe depending on the services of the each department private or public let me not forget the directors of dangerous drugs control board I believe that you all doing a great job with your team members I hope that you will continue it for another decade or so.

There is a huge ‘Danger’ if you just cross a railway especially when there is no ‘protected railway crossing’ I find no danger in knowing the advantages of such things also the ‘risks crossing unsafe rail gates’.  

My Darling sister has become my guider and sometimes an adviser of my life. Take care little one.

‘Dam’ is one of the most important parts of a water saving methodologies and it is vital to know the importance of this components not only for children but also for all of us. 

Dairy,dairy, dairy doc do you think that there is a song similar to this?  No I am wrong sorry? What is it then? I am not aware of any documents written on ‘dairy farmers of old Sri Lanka’ I guess this good for all the new diary farmers or dairy farmers to be ( related business) to direct towards a better future in their respective fields.
Diary dear diary ‘you are the only one who memorize me of the dates of the past that I should not forget but I can not remember the date that I last use a diary. Dear diary sorry to remind you that some of our friends have given your place to their dear PC’s. I am not so sure about how the modern business fields use this ‘business directories’ forgetting the diaries and loving the PC’s. I am little sad to think of my old desktop computer that is the nature. New things come people embrace if affordable those things are unavoidable in any fields of developing world.  

I don’t mind listening to good music or watching a dancing program before dawn. 

 ‘A good debater is always a good resource I like to think and it is so good to listen when some school children express their views on many things especially during a ‘debate’ 

I personally think that any Debriefing activities of any important project definitely will lead a group a project towards a right direction. 

I guess some children have given the authority to decide their future paths thinking of their own interests and preferences in learning or otherwise. I don’t know how wise it is sometimes to ‘destruct’ their own choices of learning outside school syllabuses. I am not aware of any prizes at school prize giving ceremonies on ‘New innovations’ (in any of their preferred areas) I am sure that there are some procedures in school system.

Design of any design I guess is worth studying and that sometimes lead ones life towards new destinations in life.

I am sure the Doctors always advise all of us not only the environmentalists the importance of having a dust free environment good for a healthy life.  

Drought will not remain for so long soon you will see some dark clouds in the sky of your close vicinity the farmers will have no problem then. And let me thank you for the decision taken to ‘reconstruct or rehabilitate the abandoned or the forgotten tanks of our beautiful country. Farmer organizations have a huge role to play here I believe not only the ‘irrigation departments’.

Let’s meet again with another ‘letter’ of my choice.

Don't Worry Syria ..........................

we know how you feel Syria. We know that you are hurt. We understand and we have experienced  enough of sorrow and sufferings for 30 long years the way you suffer now but luckily we did not stop our battle against 'inhumanity' 


trust in your friends that too can be a solution sometimes. but be careful you need to understand 'better' the term 'friends'. 


may be we are different demographically and geographically but we all 'human'. we understand the wetness of a tear drop, we understand the terrified feeling of terror moments. we lost not only 'humans' but also other things. we have seen enough of blood covered bodies in most of the parts of our this little country. but that was back then now the situation here in our beautiful country is completely different. we are now breathing freely and we walk here to there in all paths big and small, highways to sub ways or sub ways to big ways and sometimes taking detours from here to there and to everywhere in this country with NO FEAR. 


you may fail or fall but we like to ask you 'don't worry Syria'  


have patience. 'patience' is not just a word that is there in the dictionary it is also there in the dictionaries of 'humanity', in 'beautiful minds'. 
and please don't forget that there are other words too in these dictionaries of human lives, 'COURAGE' this is more important i believe.


i know that it is so easy to say this and that but in practical it is difficult i understand that too but i suggest you to 'talk to a good friend' who has experienced the same. ask and get little advises on 'how they handled the crisis situations in their own little countries'. i am sure that they will not look the other way especially when you are in need of help of a good friend, a trust worthy friend. Size of the country does not matter or not relevant sometimes . 


Some are very big in experiences and some others are intelligent enough to give and share  own experiences results of good work without keeping them for their own purposes only but they are ready to share them with you for the benefit of the good, for the benefit of the sustainability of the world peace.


we as a country are against of all sorts of terror and we like to encourage you and request you to discuss a little with a good friend.


there is no issue that you can not find solutions and at the beginning we understand you are terrified that is the nature of such situations but i am sure you will see 'everything in a more clear way' but it takes time. accordingly you will find solutions and will get a chance to apply them accurately.

slowly you will understand how to solve your own problems within. Norway you can give up.


i guess 'face the situation' 'run away' forgetting the size of the issue is not a solution to the problem i believe. i guess 'stay with them without leaving them in crisis' is a wiser idea to practice  like the way that you contribute your time and kindness in other situations or in the early stages.
  
sometimes you may fail all the strategies you tried or the plans that you tried to keep everything in peace or find a better solution 'i guess that is alright' ' winning or the victories do not come before you so easily. 'gaining or achieving victories are easy if you follow a wrong way' but that will not last long. 


we are sure that you will find 'a long lasting solution' for your current issues that is how we can encourage you. 


we pray and wish that you will see smiling faces once again all over SYRIA soon in the near future.

On Nugegoda Tenderly .................................

( Nugegoda is a memorable city in my life. I think this city has many things to be shared with the outside world. Its excitements, elegance, connectivity, relationships with other cities, changes over years, its history and the present, unwritten stories, busyness,  each and every side of this city has something unique like many other cities in the world. Therefore I decided to write a few pages specifically allocating for Nugegoda and the lives around this city. I will try my best to add ‘accuracy’ in to this page viewing the city with a wide open eye, listening to the original views of its people as much as possible. I may not follow a specific pattern in viewing or sharing ‘my thoughts and realities’ of this city. Like sometimes it is difficult to think or start something in life as to where to begin. 

Today is a full moon poya day (nikini pura pasaloswaka). 1^st of August 2012.  The last day of the Randoli  of the Esala Maha perahera, the parade of Peace and unity. 

Kandy is my home city and this sacred city is never a stranger to me . I guess I will have to write a huge book on that particular city.

But before that I thought of sharing my personal views and understanding on also a good friend like city ‘nugegoda’.………………

On Nugegoda Tenderly …………………………..  

(I am not very good in creating very attractive titles for my little essays. I like some of the attractive titles that some of the writers use. Mr. Malinda Seneviratne is one of them. I remember reading one of his beautifully titled articles ‘on eggs tenderly’ so this inspired me to create a title for my collections of ideas on ‘Nugegoda’) 

I like ‘cities’, towns, ‘villages’, shanties, slums, different communities mainly because they are different to each other and shows different ‘identities’ and all of them are ‘unique and are the parts of the big society or the country. None of the cities or the communities is unimportant or irrelevant or less valid but has some importance or significance. Like every person is important every community or village or a city is important because it holds and bears ‘people’ and their sorrows and happiness, tenderness, arrogance, kindness or the unkindness.

Sometimes a city is the place that brings people from different backgrounds, cultures in to a one specific place if you think of their objectives coming in to cities may differ, social, economical or political or other wise. So you have the chances to see different people with different abilities or talents etc. I have heard some say that ‘the villages’ have become ‘isolated’ due to this reason. ‘Youth’ specifically after completing their school education they think of coming to cities to fetch opportunities of living. Things were different in each and every decade of our past.  The number of youngsters who like to come to cities has it increase or decrease because of the some of the opportunities that has arose in their own cities I have no idea and I do not know whether anyone has done a survey or a research on this particular subject. I can sure of one thing that compared to past both in private and public sectors there is some changes to see.

So when people come from villages to cities they bring some things from their own villages or from their own communities that is also true. Sometimes those things may get mix with the qualities or the experiences they collate at their work places, peer groups cities. We need to accept that the total number of people in a village is bigger compared to some of the cities. Person may get a huge chances to meet or interact with many number of people compared to their interactions with people in their own villagers. 

It is hard to understand the ‘underside of cities’. It is like an iceberg. It is hard to imagine or get an accurate picture of a beneath of an iceberg. Visiting the very deeper side of something is not easy at all. Each an every organization of a city private or public has their own ways of maintaining or working. The resources they have ( both human and other) may different to each other. 
  

Few weeks ago …….. I just wrote the word ‘Nugegoda’ on a page of my note book. And right now I have no clue as to what to write about nugegoda to begin with. If you have too many things in your mind to write  about one particular thing it is little difficult sometimes to organize your mind but it is good to give it a try to organize your thoughts in to a particular order listening to the commands of your own mind for a moment. I find it little difficult to concentrate on one particular aspects or a component of the city at this very moment but I am sure I can continue this page for a certain period.

Nugegoda’ is not the country’s largest or this city may not be the world’s most beautiful city. But I like to think that like I mentioned earlier it has some significance or some specialties in comparison to all other cities in the world. 

This is not like ‘London’ or like ‘Constantinople’, Athens, Mumbai, Male, Amsterdam, Nagasaki or Tokyo this is ‘Nuegegoda’. The city plan, the available resources, facilities may slightly differs or those things can be totally different to one particular city if you compare this city with that city or the same city with all other cities in a same country. 

I like the ‘Design or the architecture of the District Secretariat office building in Galle  more than I like the DS’s building or the kachcheri of Kandy. ‘Novelty’ of something will bring little changes in to the exterior or interior of something. What is most important here is that the ‘interior’ or the work or the things that release from the ‘inner side of something or a building. If my memory is correct I guess ‘Galle District secretariat office is one of the offices of the government maintain buildings which has won ‘Paladaitha Sammanaya’ (following Five ‘S’ concept). 

 I don’t know the time that city goes to sleep or wakes up generally. I can hear the sounds of moving vehicles even after mid nights.

I don’t like to compare ‘Kandy’ with ‘Nugegoda’ or the people in Nugegoda with Kandy because I know that it ‘ridiculous’ it is not just the city which sharpen or design ones mind or ones heart there are other things too. Adding different ‘designs or architecture’ in to your mind needs to be handled carefully everything that you may see or encounter may not suitable or relevant to you.    

I don’t see any relevance in comparing people with cities sometimes. People are different you can find various people with various attitudes or shapes and sizes of minds even within a same city and therefore we need to learn to respect this truth. 

You may meet ‘Sopakala’ ‘ ‘angulimaala’, ‘Vishaka’, ‘ Janapada Kalyani’, ‘Yashodara’, Dhathusena, Elara, Dharmasoka, ‘Anula or Leelawathi’s of our past in present societies or in any city………………..
