What do you prefer Ladies and Gentlemen; an opposition always opposing or always supporting?

Before i move on to my topic of the day, let quote following that i copied from the page  'The Universial Declaration of Human Rights' maintain by the UN

Article 19.

  • Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.( http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/)
let me share my views on the topic i chosen to essay, today.

That is a myth or i would say that it is wrong that if you think that the role of an opposition is 'always opposing to what ever the existing or a ruling party does or suggest.

An opposition in the parliament is differ ftrom any other opposing side known in the world or compared to any other oppositions. Also, it is significantly and obviously different, when it comes to other sports or games, that two sides are playing. It could be cricket or wrestling, or any other game other than politcal games.

So, i think this is the first time in the local parliamentary history , correct me if i am wrong, that a Non Sinhalese person was selected as an opposition leader (?)

There were many names suggested by the sides of the National government (?) , the names such as 'Kumara Welgama, Dinesh Gunawardena. according to the sources, a letter was hannded over to the head of the country, with the signatures of the members. i.e for the one of the suggestions about 56 Mp's has signed the letter reqesting to appoint MP dinesh Gunawardena as the leader of the opposition but the decision was taken to appoint MP Sambandhan as the leader of opposition . Congratulations!

To tell you frankly even from the beginning he is not in the list of my favorite politicians. There were reasons for that, i have discussed or shared them through this page several times. I like when every Citizen / parliamentarian who act or stand as an independent person in what ever they do, every posible way.

i do not like when who ever always consult outsiders when it comes to internal matters or to deal with situations, home front.

Don't read me inaccurately, as you all / most of you aware, 'internal affairs are different to external affairs or to the deallings with foreign communities. Specifically, when it comes to international matters / situations / diplomatic or otherwise.

i do not like when our individuals always consult the 'politicians of South India , Jailalitha or Vaico because  of the past experiences,,with regard to politcal matters that directly affect every citizen of the country.

I do not like when our big politicians try to consult 'west' when it comes to solely our matters or home affairs that we should deal somewhat privately and independently.

when we have the fullest, unending strength to full fill any mission, visions , aims and needs of the people we should expect less or minimum support from 'foreign communities. Minimum support; i was thinking of ' financial support / loans that is also only if necessary, to carry out any developmental activity.

When it comes to world matters we need to cooperate and work cordially , support as brilliantly as possible in what ever good things they implement, begin.

It is an apparent thing that within a National government,if most the MP's hold positions to some percentage,  you cannot ethically give 'the position of the leader of opposition to one of them.

You can see that the old tradition of appointing opposition leaders is completely broken in this system of 'National government.

The political intention or aim behind this is 'the majority of MP's is on the side of the government' and only few are on the side of the opposition. What are the apparent benefits such government get. Needless to say. For any such government , when they find only a few is opposing to what ever they do, their wishes (mainly, Political) are easily fulfilled. For example if you take the political ideology or concept called 'federal government' or as applicably to the current political context on the country, its political or otherwise admin system. i have a question to raise; DO YOU THINK THAT THE CURRENT OPPOSITION WOULD OPPOSE or do you think that they 'support'? that is only a tiny yet a heavy example to my knowledge.  do you think that i managed to prove what i told in the previous paragraphs.

i believe that that is what they have been expecting all those years. A separate admin system not any other separate section? i hope that they never get confuse with what the Lord God Prabhakaran was trying to achieve with what they* are expecting from the government.

(*do not think that i meant Tamils here, any who want a separate section or admin region are meant by this, 'they' i used here. there are Sinhalese as well that are / were willing to support to that, am i incorrect?)

I guess the current opposition consist of  the members who have not taken, or expected to be taken any positions in the national government, MP's yet to be appointed to any positions, or else they are strictly the members of their respective parties that do not like to take the side of the National government, or are not in the formed allies / ally

If he is the right leader to TNA and to the  party / parties opposition, lets ask him to prove it to the Citizens of this country.

And kadawale do not frequently or always visit your guru's in the Southern Part of the India to consult even for teeny weeny matters and before taking every decision. Show that you are an independent politician that like to maintain your liberty and have got some political skill and talent to deal with any home matters independently, at least now onward.

And you need to understand that Sri Lanka is an independent country and not a part or any territory of any other land and we dislike to govern by any other state minor or massive.

We have a politically elected government , we highly hope that they represent this country steadily and firmly by protecting every custom, norms and values of it, before any political, diplomatic or otherwise groups, communities and VERY IMPORTANTLY we expect them to protect the POLITICAL DIGNITY that the country  have been maintaining ' for years.

We do not expect them to tarnish it.

And now just because so called traditional oppositions are in the National Government ' do not say 'ehei (Yes) ape haanduruwane' Me Lord ( this hamuduruwane is not a meaning given to Buddhist Monk) to every decision to be taken by the present government in the future.

when it comes to local parliamentarian system, the role of the leader of the opposition is an important position. And the package comes with, i do not know whether i should say some or more but political power.

Power, if you take it politically it is not equal to electrical power but decision making power within their capacities, described by the position / party.

Show, to the citizen of this country, how strong and firm you, the entire parliament in its decision making processes that directly affect the future of this country, politically, economically, culturally , socially and its every other aspects mentioned and not mentioned.

And big bosses ' please do not think that doing something totally different to what others ( political leaders) in the history have done can be justified or can be taken as a 'change' or as a difference'.

Politicians are well trained people in their logics and rationales , every decision they take has some rationale or a logic, similarly people can always show the other sides if there is any and their logics and rationales.

let me turn into how a member of parliament can practice 'right to speak in the parliament',

According to what i feel, in the current parliament, considering the sizes of the parties, nature of the government, national, every member should be given equal time , depending on the subject they discuss, revel or information like to share.

If there are a lot of small parties and need time to share things , should be given chances i think even ethically it is alright. to address all that i believe that they need to have a proper 'plan' in order to express their opinions.

And i hope that every member of parliament elected and chosen by the citizens of the country are intelligent and would not talk nonsense in the parliament that bring unnecessary troubles locally, to its people and bring unnecessary attention from the individuals and groups out side to home pages

So what is your answer to the question i asked at the begining?

What do you prefer Ladies and Gentlemen; an opposition always opposing or always supporting?

i say that we need not only an opposition but also every parliament member to be on the side of ' people, and on the side of ' impartial'
