LESSONS from Badly ROASTED RICE ........................................

Cooking  or chefing  this particular type of cuisine one need no efforts just few drops of carelessness is enough.  Chefing is easy only when they know a – z of cooking. Those who do not know a – z of chefing or cooking  for 5 or any star menuing  ‘ roasted rice’ can be a no strange result.

You know sometimes when one put all his/her efforts and plan and plan and plan and plan things for years or ages ‘one may not get expected outcome’ may be one may ends up getting something totally different to what he/she was expected earlier in life.
Am right?

Yes I think I am right at least for this moment because realities, rational, logics explanations may vary from not only person to person but also to place to place, region to region.

I always want the pot of rice I cook look eatable and give no horrible tastes when eating. I want it the normal way.  I do not have to explain it you all know I am sure a bit of cooking how a well cooked plate of rice looks normally.  When it comes to rice half boiled/cooked rice is not good for your better digesting processes or they are not recognized as eatable rice.  Everybody like rice boiled or cooked well and cooked in a way can be eatable.

‘Roasted rice’ -  to make this special and very special cuisine I do not know whether there is any particular way of cooking styles exists in this big world of art of cooking. Cooking too is an art. Am I right chefs – ladies and gents,  trying to be chefs in the future?

‘Dankuda’ this is the word we use locally for the burnt part of the pot of rice.  There is loads of folk and other stories attached with this term locally pronounce as ‘dankuda’

What are causes for dankuda bath (burnt rice/roasted rice)
-          Lack of abilities in controlling the flame of the burner I think that is one of the main reasons that comes first or on top of the list? ( there are certain moments in life that one has to control things though it is not advisable always or applicable always)
-
Loosing consciousness or concentration
-          Again ones lack of knowledge on time management provides a fairly enough reason to get a burnt/roasted plate of rice.  It is good if you have at least a rough idea about the type of rice and cooking time. Cooking time may slightly differ from rice to rice (different varieties of  rice)
-
Heavy loads of interruptions finally get no use results but get a roasted rice a plateful.  No other things must interrupt during the duration of cooking- rice (unnecessary interruptions may bring ‘no good results’ in most or certain things of ones life.

-          One should not go watch tv or chat with friends neighbourhood, or start reading your favorite column of the paper unless you completely finished cooking ( this comes under ‘importance of completion of any work, activity that were once started  without starting any other task or a chore instead)  girls , ladies careful you need to turn off the burner before you start chatting, skyping  or phoning with your boy friends or who ever. You can never catch the time you lose but gets a plateful – roasted rice/burnt rice
-          Over cooked is no healthy either

So I do not know whether I can memorize any good reasons to showcase a bowl full ,  plateful roasted rice on the table home - dinning or at the lunch corners or dinner corners of your café’s , restaurants. Above is the list I can mention here at this minute of writing. All I know is what ever one cooks should not keep any chances it to be burnt because it gives only a very bitter taste not the taste or flavor that our particular sensing organs expects basically. Burnt stuffs bring nothing in to peoples lives accurately said.

I do not know whether burnt meals show any other sides, facets of ones mind - shaky, confused or puzzled? One might say that not burnt plate of rice not showcase any of the looks or facets of  s steady mind either. The reason for  who ever is getting no burnt plate full rice is  story of ‘ the moment of not losing concentration’ what so ever happened.

I guess again I will have to refer the list that I mentioned while a go.

Burnt meals, cooking items, rice or what so ever says that you were not doing your job of cooking right when you were involved in the activity. That could be one of the main reasons to get such a result a burnt pot of rice/roasted rice. Your mind was not at a one particular aim or a point when you were engaged in cooking as a result of that you gained roasted rice a plateful.
You were concentrating on other things other than cooking your pot of rice therefore the end result is = roasted rice a plateful.

You may have given too much time for chatting or phoning with your beloved or dear or near ones, love ones boy friends than the time that your pot of rice was expecting you to give.

For a bit of grain how much of things that one has to invest.  I was wondering this morning.

There is a saying among the villagers, farmers and some relate this to many other ways of living of people.  ‘allak wapura mallak ganna’  that is ‘sow a palm full of grain and take in return a bag full of grains’
What you get in return is what you invest’ if one engages in good deeds the person /he/she who ever get something good in return.  In farming as your portion of harvest, share, busels  you get from  very same variety of what you have sowed . If you grow cowpea you get cowpea in return as your expected harvest. How can one expect rice after cultivating chilies or cowpea? That is not possible. This methodology of cultivating paddy or chilly and getting the same as the harvest one can easily apply to their other activities of their lives - day today.

If you do not pay very much attention to what you do let’s say during the processes of what ever cultivation your harvest might get spoiled. You will not get in return something in good ‘quality’.  It is like you are cooking or getting an unspoiled plate or pot full of rice after giving it a required attention along with adequate time and concentration.

For any cultivation there are things required including space a plot or block of land that is suitable for cultivation and other necessary things adequate water, rain,  better or suitable type of soil and good care and attention.  It is same with the cooking, preparing a meal.  I have already mentioned what is required for a cooking your day’s meal.  It is not just a burner, grain, and if you are preparing a curry all other essences and flavours chilly, thunapaha kaha, cinnamon, pepper salt to taste etc, etc that you need for cooking  a healthy meal eatable meal. All other things I mentioned and listed above are important too I must say they are very important. Money is not the only essentials that one needs to buy stuff, cook and eat.  I like to say money is important all other things are very important.

The farmer has to prepare the land before starting any cultivation and there are two identified, recognized, accepted, good period to start their cultivation such as Yala or Maha depending on what quantity of water you required for your chosen cultivation. For chena cultivation you do not need that much of water or attention only thing is you need to take care of it very well during its fruiting or resulting periods. From the stealers that are ‘not doing any work but depend on others resources type of people,  or people who are not doing anything but wait for others to cultivate or invest their money and efforts. There are very bad groups who involve in crime like stealing who are they? Can anyone name them? The ‘ little, little birds, animals. We should hang them till death right : -))

It is same with cooking.  If you need your breakfast you shouldn’t wait till the time reach ‘lunch hours’.  There is always a suitable time for everything you or we she /he does or to begin.  One can not exceed, backward, careless the time limit given or time suitable. It does not mean that one can not skip meals but that is not known as a good habit. Postponing meals , activities will not benefit any parties. If you keep the inevitables a side and plan your meals you will not get a ‘plateful roasted rice’. What are the inevitable here?  All unexpected, can not be changed situations of life belong to the category of  inevitable. Just imagine that when you are engaging in cooking your day’s meal you suddenly get a phone call from a friend informing a situation that he/she can not bared along you might have to forget your pot of rice that is on the hearth or on the burner and listen to your friend.

What is the lesson that it teaches us.  there are things we think is very important in our lives but often or mostly you may have to forget the importance of your life and offer the time you have allocated for you for the others who is really in need of your time more than you need them or your immediate .  I do not think that anyone can complain of you getting a roasted or burnt plate of rice then.

Everything that are before us are teaching at least a single lesson for all of us.  Don’t they?

A burnt plate of rice, burnt slices of bread, badly toasted or roasted any other cake or pudding what so ever.  Broken mirrors, glasses, pots, used pencils up to its maximum level.  Think of any faded things or anything that does not show its original look think of mugs or plates , pots what so ever for instance and compare them with the first date that one purchased the same. Does it look same like before?

In most of the things we do during what so ever initial time of the activity people pay very much attention as it is new or look fresh but when time goes or passes the attention gets or catches by something else. Inevitable do not know whether this word here is appropriate or applicable to use.

Have a no burnt meal ahead!

Happy mealing to all of you!
