The PARADE of unities

The eyes of the world are on a specific location these days. all castes and all classes are representing and it is the symbol of respect , appreciation, SACREDNESS , rhythm, heart beats of people, veneration , sharing spaces , requests, wishes, values and norms, rituals I can not name all here but I know the huge net of Media is doing their job residing  in Kandy when ever the perahara takes place in Kandy. It is little difficult for me to list all what is symbolizing there in Kandy – Esala Peraha ( Parade). I am away from this Sacred City these days but so close in my heart and mind always. I can view, visit, dream of this scared city any moment I want and can feel it so genuinely and lovingly and when every time I think of this City, the sacredness and the historical value that it holds the respect I have within increases immensely up to the sky level.

The City become commercially profitable these days, the Hoteliers become busier compared to the other days of the year. The group of friends, Families, Tourists all enjoying visiting this City especially during the perahera Days.  Though the city become little tight and packed people a never mind it and they never complain about such things.  The number of people moving here and there within the city increases and the little, little small and medium scale entrepreneurs too become busier and richer compared to the other days in the city. The traders of pavements, the cool stuff selling outlets popular and new learn how to handle when the number of customers coming increases these are learning days too for all.

The gaduguda and galsiyambala ( the local fruits available especially during Perahera days. I like the setting and the ways these fruits have formalized within. The velvet colour of gal siyambala reminds me of a gorgeous material that can weave and thread a marvelous outfit that may fits to any occasion or location of any part of the world. The velvet- look of the fruity once a famous fashionable material that all age groups were very fond of using for their clothing.

The perahera is very rich in designs and colours to match with. The ideas and designs which the colour velvet brings one can view during the parade.  This particular velvet colour often chooses for the ‘Elephant the very sacred ‘RAJA’ who carry the SACRED TOOTH RELIC OF OUR LORD BUDDHA  so respectfully.

And the gaduguda – the fruity group reminds me of a different a set of friends who always stay together no matter what they have to face. They come together and even go together where ever they go.

The carnivals I do not like to talk much about such events. Such things are totally commercially planed and aimed organized events.  I like to keep the concept of carnivals little away from the sacred Perahera.      

It is not just the rhythms of the dancing steps that comes and touches the hearts ad minds of kids an adults  the rhythm lies within the beats of the drums that followed by the teeny weeny amateurs of all sort of cultural performances learns as well. they learn not just a  single things per day they get chances to learn many more things every day and every second of their performances such as ‘how to become a mature in the fields they involved in’.

For most of them these are sleepless days. They have to follow the fixed schedules they have to follow the guidance given to them without breaking any rules of rituals and values and norms.

There is a certain route that each the day the perahera perform.  The streets become popular and the names of the streets become unforgettable because of many things not just because of the routes that the perahera proceed.

People meet people

Friends of different ties and bonds, interests, desires, likes and dislikes, choices, preferences flavours, attitudes, perceptions backgrounds,  

There is a tendency that the fresh relationships to begin at places that such similar events take place within among various couples, types, kinds, groups of people I know that too.

I do not know about the lasting periods of such freshly start relationships but that too adds some plusses to people’s mind I like to believe. I guess it is foolish to count or weigh value or importance of relationships according to the number of days or moments, minutes, seconds, hours or years spend together.  Such theories are valid for all types of relationship carrier, professional or friendly.

The perahera days are truly exciting and the event brings amazingly immeasurable experiences in to people’s life and to the shape and size of the city.  The magic of the event within and outer, the spirit of liveliness that this event shows to the world too is amazing for me.

Enjoy and collate some happiness and add some sacred to what you view and analyze them accordingly , apply appropriately what ever gain watching or viewing or walking among and within, via, or through out the streets of the city but I beg do not dump any garbage within throw or use all your wastes and dump all of them in to the set bins without taking them and put them here and there of your own cities or after returning to your home – pages.

Take what you really think is good to take, carry or gift to your loved ones from the city.  The rest we should allow to remain and survive as it is in the premises that they love and destined to be.

Collate memories and save them all along the lanes of your heart and minds pen them when necessary for sharing purposes though one can gain the same experiences again and again each year but remember dear friends every moment of our lives /life is different and unpredictable even the events and the experiences that we may face or will collate they too always unpredictable therefore do not wait or postpone until next year comes to watch the parade Esela Maha perahera.   

Auspiciousness attached to every ritual and event takes our hearts and minds towards a different world of thinking and reminding.

I know that this is an incomplete essay I know that the anthropological and sociological value of the event I did not touch to explain or explore or take you towards the city of Dalada Maligawa.  The age of the event already reached decades and decades and the world by now know every single value or the importance of this event.

Believe me this event will not leave you emptied mind or heart this will fill your heart and mind with so much of things that you can memorize until the last moment of your life
